The media could not be loaded. Both these for our campground porch swings. They worked fine for that. They are just a little shorter than they described.

The description of this item does not do it justice. It says 8ft. One could interpret this to mean that it contains 8 feet of chain. That is not the case. First, there are two sets of chain. Each consists of one length that is 56" long connected by a welded loop to two other chains that are each 30" long. There are also two hefty eye bolts with plastic bushings and a hook which add another 4", not counting the thread, for a total of 90 inches. So, while it is not 8 feet of chain, you have to have clearance for a swing, so if the ceiling is 8 feet above the floor you would have 6 inches of clearance. Since you need more than that there is more than enough chain for an 8 foot ceiling. I have no doubt the chain will hold the rated 500 lbs. The weak link is the thread of the bolts into the wood. The thread is 2" in length with a diameter of 1/4". I don't have specs on how much of a load that can handle, but I suspect it should be good for at least 250 lbs each if centered on a healthy 2" wide rafter. I am going to trust it to hold my grand children. If it fails I will be back with a noisy complaint. ... show more

Bought these to replace some existing chains which had become rusty over the years. We were repainting our swing, so we decided to replace the springs and chains at the same time. These springs are the same as the ones we had on the swing. The set comes with two chains. I was not sure about this when reading the description, but there is one for each side of the spring. Purchased some quick links to make the installation easier as we had only closed eye loops on the swing. ... show more
