Several styles, some sturdier than others. The cats have a wooden box with holes in top to drop balls in to swat around, perfect for that. Wouldn't want them rolling around because if you stepped on one it would easily crush to bits.

One of our cats hooks his tooth in the opening and carries the ball to a different location, then sets it down and bats it around. He loves these balls. Unfortunately, he doesn't pick up his toys after he plays with them and sometimes the humans accidently step on them and break them, so he ends up getting new balls every so often. I have to look closely at how they are made though because he can't pick them all up in his mouth.
