We got this set because my 11 year old showed an interest in sewing after I got a $1 sewing kit. She loves this and has continually been sewing since she received it. The only thing I was hoping was in the book were instructions on how to sew different stitches but YouTube tutorials to the rescue.

I bought this by mistake and didn’t pay attention that it’s an advanced kit. This kit comes with everything you need to do small clothing items but my poor 8 year old daughter had no clue what to do and her poor mother (me) didn’t have a clue about sewing either. But if you are someone who sews then this is a great kit to teach with. It comes with everything you need and the packaging was impeccable. Highly recommend for advanced sewers

This is such a cool idea, it comes with so many neat and unique items to make barbie clothes but it isn't for small kids. It requires actual stitching so adult supervision and help is required.

I got this for my 7yo daughter for Christmas and she loves it! Definitely needs a bit of adult supervision, but overall, great purchase.

I'm genuinely impressed at the amount of information in the provided book, and the number of notions included! This is a fantastic introduction to clothing design, I wish such a kit were around when I was a kid! The included doll is cheaply made, but don't let that stop you; it provides a great model for the general proportions of fashion dolls. There is a lot of fabric, fake flowers, gems, etc. The book and patterns cover a wide range of items to make, and given the size of the doll, you could easily make all the garments out of recycled clothing when you run out of the provided fabric. I'm an intermediate sewer and make plush rather than clothes. I got the kit to see if it would be useful to learn about clothing construction. There are a lot of included patterns pre-drafted to get you sewing right away and learning the basics, and then instructions for how to draft your own pattern for several projects. There's also an included template. The last projects take you through the steps of drafting a pattern for yourself. This would make a delightful gift for a creative preteen to adult interested in sewing. Great value. I received this item for free through Vine for an unbiased review, my opinion is my own.

There are some sets similar to this which do not include the doll. With this set; the doll is included. This set includes everything you need, though you can also include other embellishments on your own. Depending upon the age and level of knowledge; adult supervision / help may be needed. Can be a fun parent / child activity. This comes in a nice box, as shown in the listing pictures. Easy to wrap if you’re giving it as a gift. The box shows that this kit is Made in China but designed in New Zealand. It’s being sold by a U.S. company
