Farberware 0.7 Cu. Ft. Microwave Review Our old microwave finally gave out, and I decided it was the perfect time to downsize. We really did not need a huge microwave taking up that much counter space anymore, so I went with this 0.7 cubic foot Farberware. One of my favorite things about it is honestly just how much better my counter looks. The smaller microwave opened up so much space that the whole area feels bigger. If you have limited counter space, or you simply do not need a giant microwave anymore, that alone is a big plus. It is 700 watts, so it is a little less powerful than our previous microwave. I knew that going in, and it really has not been a problem. I usually use the maximum suggested cooking time on the package, and if the food is not quite hot enough, I add another 30 seconds. So far, that has worked perfectly fine for us. I was a little worried that downsizing would limit the functionality, but it really hasn't. We use it for leftovers, frozen meals, defrosting, snacks, and all the normal everyday microwave stuff. For our household, the smaller size has been plenty. It is also noticeably quieter than our old microwave, which was actually a larger Farberware model. I did not realize how loud the old one was until we switched to this one. The lower noise level is a really nice bonus, especially since the microwave is in a main living area and gets used throughout the day. One thing I do not love is the visibility. The door is pretty dark, so it can be hard to see inside while food is cooking. It has not been a major issue, but it is definitely something I noticed. Now for the one thing that almost drove me crazy. I did not realize when I bought it that it has a child safety feature on the door. You have to press the Door Open button first, and then press the regular door release. It is probably a great feature if you actually need a child lock. I do not, and having to do two steps every single time I wanted to open the microwave was getting old very quickly. Thankfully, you can turn it off. Press 7, then 9, then hold the Door Open button for about three seconds. The display will show “ULoc,” and after that the door opens normally. Finding that out honestly made me like this microwave so much more. Overall, I am really happy with it. It is compact, looks nice, frees up a surprising amount of counter space, and does exactly what we need it to do. You may need to add a little extra cooking time because of the 700 watt power, but that has been a very easy tradeoff for us. If you are looking to downsize and save some counter space, I think this is a really nice little microwave. And if you do not need the child lock, turn it off. Perfect little microwave for me. A few comments about other reviews: Some folks complain about low power. Well, it's clearly marked as a 700W microwave, so that's expected. I would argue that the somewhat slower cooking times make for a better overall heating experience, but regardless, if you want faster times, buy a higher wattage oven. This thing heats food up nicely. The added seconds is sort of meaningless even in our fast-paced world. Secondly, about the locking door. The company obviously heard the complaints. So they've added very prominent instructions on how to easily disable the door lock if you don't have kids. If I remember right, the instructions are included on the top of the appliance as you unpack it. I followed the very simple instructions, and have had zero problems. They're almost giving away this thing. Nothing to complain about on my end. Do be aware that if, like me, you microwave pre-cooked rice envelopes, they won't stand up in this small microwave. You have to lay them flat. But that doesn't seem to hurt anything. They still microwave for me in the traditional 90 seconds. You might want to make it 100 seconds and flip it over at 50. QUALITY: Easy to use controls. GREAT for a small space. Nice Black finish. Digital controls. Seems well built. Turntable issues. INTENDED PURPOSE: Kitchen Microwave RECOMMENDATION: We bought this microwave on 01/25/2022 from Amazon. I thought we wrote a review at that time and had intended on updating now that its been in use for a couple of years but Amazon will only go back into 2023. So, here it is (updated)... The microwave is excellent for the small space we have. The buttons all work without having to apply a lot of pressure to the buttons. There is ONE complaint though... The plate that sits on the turntable is sooooooo easy to knock off. It doesn't sit on the rollers or center rotator very well. The stubs on the bottom of the plate are so short they have a hard time grabbing. Care must be exercised to keep it on. We've had plenty of other microwaves in the past. This one has to be the worst for keeping the table on track. Its not easy to get back on. There is a lot of fumbling in the process. It can be aggravating at times. But the overall performance of the microwave is that it still works and performs as its expected for a little microwave. It will take a little longer (seconds seem like hours) than larger units with higher wattage outputs. We would buy this unit again but we would first look to see if there is a different design or manufacturer that has a better turntable design. For the price point, this is a good buy and has served us well for 2 years now. We would still make a recommendation to buy. Just keep in mind the turntable issue. UPDATE: 03/16/24 - LOOK at the advertisement. This microwave is advertised as a 1000W microwave. IT IS NOT. Be aware that it is ONLY 700W. The review above stands though. ... show more

Right away, it was just so loud, and the type of noise was unsettling. The door is sticky and annoying- may be bc of this new child-lock rule, but either way feels janky. THEN, it started shutting itself off part way into cooking things- appeared to be bc it was not venting steam at all? The inner walls and door would be completely covered with a ton of water, and would reset itself automatically after wiping it and airing out for a few mins. Plenty of clearance on all sides, so that wasn’t a factor. To be clear, this was not a power issue, as it was on a surge protector which was not flipped, and other items on the same strip were unaffected. This started happening more frequently, and after less time. Troubleshooting tips were unhelpful/irrelevant. I finally got fed up but then found I was only hours past the 30-day return window. My bad for not returning it after the first time it did this, I guess. Later the same day, this scary little nuke box, decided that it would turn itself on for no reason, and just stay on. No buttons will stop it, no time buttons work, except the “add 30 secs” does work the timer, but still doesn’t stop after the timer ends. It’s been unplugged for days now, and every time I try plugging it back it in to check- nope, still just running on its own. This is crazy right? ... show more

My 300.00 microwave/convection oven died. I had it 3 years though a never used all those fancy cook options so I just went with this. 1000 W cooks warms perfectly. The inside is a little wider than a standard dinner plate. Perfect for 1 or 2 people or an apartment. Opening inside is 13" wide, 13.5 inches deep and 9 inches tall. It works great. It's perfect! Gave this to my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. She was using a 700watt microwave, had to run 1 item twice sometimes 3 times. Frustrating to say the least. This upgrade was exactly what she needed and has once again apiezed my mother in law. You can never go wrong with Farberware. They are a very good and well known company. The microwaves appearance is not at all intimidating. It matches the other appliances. Smooth functional and great quality. Doesn't take up too much space. Most importantly, easy to use, which was something I had to take into consideration, after all, I was giving this to a 78-year-old woman. Overall, a great buy for very little money. I ordered this model Farberware because the model I had previously wasn't available quickly, and this one was. Plus it was one of the few with a dark interior like I wanted. It's supposed to be 900w like the other model, but it now takes about 6 minutes to pop popcorn in my glass & silicone popper as opposed to about 3-1/2 in the old microwave. I really haven't noticed a difference with other foods. The biggest annoyance, though, is the noise it makes which seems to be from the outside vibrating. It's the noisiest microwave I've ever had. If I had to do it over again, I probably wouldn't buy it. ... show more
