Full disclosure, I was given this item as part of Amazon's Vine program in exchange for an honest review, positive or negative. When I first turned this on, I suspect I had the same reaction as everyone who has never seen how much better a green laser is than a red laser. WOW! If they were flashlights, a red laser is a flashlight you get at the Dollar store for $1 and the green laser is a car headlight on high beams. They don't even compete with each other. Indoors, the green laser can easily be seen 100 feet away, whereas a red laser cannot. As far as the function of this laser, they work great too! You can turn on either the horizontal, the vertical, or both the horizontal and vertical lines at the same time. Each beam shines about 180 degrees around the room. The autoleveling is wonderful. All you have to worry about is getting the unit to the correct height. This is the only negative about the unit. It can be tricky to do, even on a camera tripod. If you are buying a camera tripod just to use for this, get one with a had crank that makes the center column go up and down. It will make adjusting the height MUCH easier and less frustrating. The kind of tripod surveyors use will not be very useful for this type of laser. I will give you one piece of buying advice. If you put this level line and leaving where it is while you work, it is great, like say for kitchen cabinets or tiles. If you decide to move the line to another part of the room by adjusting the tripod, or pointing the laser in a different direction, then you will want a 360 rotating laser. This one will be too frustrating to use in those circumstances on a tripod. You will spend more time readjusting the height than you will installing the cabinet or whatever you were doing. It would be better to go ahead and get a laser that shines all the way around the room. Quick tip, if you don't have a tripod, and you are working in the kitchen, put it on the magnetic bracket included and stick it to the refrigerator. It works great and is easy to adjust up and down. This is a rechargeable laser level that comes with a mesh bag, a magnetic mount, and a magnetic reference bracket. I will first point out that this thing is a little on the pricey side but I will argue that it's worth every penny. I have a cheaper laser level and this thing is so much better in multiple ways. The first obvious upgrade for me is the fact that it is rechargeable via USB C cable. My old laser level requires two AA batteries which was annoying because I would use the level infrequently enough that the batteries would be dead whenever I would go to use it and it felt like I was wasting money. So even if I go to use this one and it's dead, it'll just require the time it'll take to charge it instead of killing two batteries. Also, there is a battery level indicator at the top of the level so you aren't have to guess whether it's close to being dead or not. The lasers are very visible, even in very brightly lit areas. There is an option to use the horizontal and vertical lines or either just the vertical or just the horizontal line. This level does have the option to use a self leveling feature or you can lock it and place it at the appropriate angle you need it to be at. Included in the package is also a magnetic mount. The laser level accepts a threaded insert which you can normally find on different tripods. This mount uses that same tripod thread to secure the level, in which the mount has two strong magnets that can be attacked to any magnetic surface. They're strong magnets so there's no worry about it falling or just slipping in general and thus moving you're level line. There's also a hole in the mount so the mount can be screwed into a piece or wood or drywall if there is no magnetic surface to attach it to. I actually use a tripod for most of my jobs involving the use of laser levels. I highly recommend this if you're looking at getting a decent laser level. What an awesome product this laser level is, and has appeared to be extremely accurate the 10+ times I have used the level. This laser level is very compact and easy to carry around, plus it is pretty lightweight compared to other laser levels I have owned in the past. I love the mounting L shape bracket that comes inside the box, as the magnets on the opposite side are plenty strong enough to hold the laser level at any height you want to. The price this item is listed at is a great price considering this level will go up to 100 feet which is a huge plus when building something. The laser level is very user friendly and easy to operate. With the push of a button you can use just the vertical level line, just the horizontal level line, or you can use them both as it becomes a cross on the wall for vertical and horizontal. When charged for a full cycle, this level will last 2 days of heavy use, and probably longer if you are only using for 30 minutes here and there. The outside of the laser level is very sturdy and rigid, able to withstand a few drops at the job site without throwing anything out of level. Overall just a fantastic product that is built to last, does the intended job, very budget friendly and cost effective, and a great tool to have with you on every job site. ... show more
