This is a review of Fanttik's D2 Cross Laser Level. First and foremost! Do not look into the laser light source! Ever. Never! Do not create a situation where somebody else might look into the laser light source! This is not a toy - even for big boys and girls. It is simple to operate. So simple, that I'm not going to waste your time with a description. It's very intuitive. Do not fall prey to curiosity and look into the laser for even one instant! Are you beginning to sense a theme here! I really like this 2-dimensional, self-leveling level. The beauty of it is the horizontal line it projects. I intend to use it to determine terrace levels on a slope in a couple landscaping projects. It's just what the doctor ordered. (There are other ways to determine level terrace lines, but they aren't nearly as convenient.) The laser unit is self-leveling, but it must be within 4 degrees of being level. That means you can set it up on a table that's 0-4 degrees off level and the unit will automatically adjust the projected horizontal line so that it's level. The projected green lines will steadily remain on. It will pulse the projected green lines if it is more than 4 degrees from level - which means it couldn't do a self-leveling and you shouldn't use the projected lines at that point. I tested the projected horizontal, level line. It was very accurate.

I know some folks may find this quite silly that I had yet to use one of these devices to properly hang anything straight around the home but my oh my what a world of difference. Gone are the days of measuring things out from the ceiling and then marking them with a pencil. Instead, I place this little guy on the other side of the room, angle it to where I want to hang something and I instantly have a line that is level and makes hanging any artwork oh so simple. There is a lock feature that you can use so that the hanging light doesn't move around when traveling and this also shuts off the leveler. Once the item arrived I instantly wanted to see just how poorly some of my wall art was off and I'm happy to see that I didn't do too bad using the old measuring method. However the minute I used this to hang more stuff around that required the items to be level, this instantly showed its value. If you are someone that needs to hang items frequently, and want to do it as efficiently as possible, look no further than this device! Trust me, you will not be disappointed at how well this works.

I was immediately impressed by the weight of the leveler. In my experience, weight usually equals quality construction. Being able to recharge it via USB is great, and the green crosshairs it puts out are very visible. I tend to drop things (:-) and so having protection around the lens area is a real plus. It has a screw mount so it can be put on a tripod, and that just adds to its utility. I am notorious for putting things up crooked. I guess I have no more excuses!
