Bought this so I could have some music in my shop. I had 2 ancient Zenith speakers, but needed a way to use them and connect to my tablet for music. It works great. Connects easily and plays with no problem. For the price, it definitely exceeded my expectations. It doesn't have a super loud top end, but the sound quality to almost max volume is still pretty good. Only thing I can say against it is I'm not sure why it has a remote. Virtually nothing on it does anything. Not a problem for me as it is right next to my desk/workbench.

I had a cheaper one for $29 that played MP3 files fine. So I bought this more expensive one for another room. Just got around to trying MP3 files and there are constant pops while playing them. I tried all different bitrates down to 96 and it's the same. Save your money and buy something better.

Me gusta mucho su funcionamiento, compacto, buena terminación y buen sonido. Tengamos en cuenta que es de muy bajo costo y no comparto algunos comentarios que lo comparan con primeras marcas. El único inconveniente, que no tuve en cuenta es la tensión de alimentación que es de 110v. Lo recomiendo!

I have both the "300W" and "450W" versions of these. They're both excellent, but there's some power supply issues that the 450W version fixes that are present in the 300w version. The higher end version is well worth the additional $10-15 or so for the upgrade. Not only do you get more features (Optical and coaxial S/PDIF input), but you get a better power supply and less noise/static in the audio. The small one I have is listed as a model BT-298A and the large one is listed as a BT-398A. One key thing to note is that those power ratings are EXTREMELY overstated. The maximum power draw from any printed figures I can see from this is 60 watts total based on the 12v input drawing up to 5 amps (on both versions, nonetheless), so with the internal electronics, I'm going to guess its around 25 watts per channel for audio. This is still PLENTY of power for loud music, unless you're trying to fill an entire stadium or concert arena. I did not measure the actual power draw. Hookup and use is very straightforward, there's nothing super complicated with it. Audio quality is EXCELLENT for the price of the unit, and the feature set is great too. I suppose my biggest gripe that applies to both of them is the way that power and volume controls are handled. The power on/off functionality is duplicated between the AC power switch, and the remote control. The same issue applies to the volume between the physical knob and the remote. The controls are independent and separate from one another. This kinda defeats the whole purpose of the remote in the first place, but given the price to performance ratio of these, its easy enough to look over. Regarding the power supply issues, there's one very minor annoyance on the higher power one, and that is that the power cord isn't removable for when you want to run it off the 12v input on the back. On the bright side, that's not really needed, unless you want to run it portable somewhere. The power supply built into the bigger one is a proper transformer with linear regulator, not a cheap and noisy switch mode power supply. The smaller one has a major problem with ground loops between the Bluetooth board and the rest of the circuitry in addition to using an RF noisy switching power supply. To alleviate some of those issues I installed some audio isolation transformers and a DC-DC power isolation module, but now that I have the larger one as well I can say, just spend the extra to get that one. In the end, the BT-398A is an absolutely amazing audio amplifier for the price! The BT-298A has several flaws that make the extra money of the bigger one well worth the cost difference, though it is far for what I would call bad or terrible if you are comfortable with some soldering modifications.

The media could not be loaded. The BT-398A is a nice inexpensive amp with many features packed into a little unit. It comes with a built-in FM tuner, DAC, Blue-Tooth/USB/SD MMC connectivity, separate volume/bass/treble controls, microphone amp, and a remote control. The unit has a metal chassis, with a large transformer (from what I can see) for the power supply in lieu of an external power adapter and weighs 2.86 pounds. To test the sound quality, used a set of small bookshelf speakers, connected with Kimber Kable 8TC speaker cables. Kimbers came with banana plugs, which didn't fit into the spring clip connectors on the back of the amplifier. Had to tape a short length of Monster XP wire to the Kimber's, then to the amplifier. Powered on the unit, there was a slight low electrical hum noise, once the music started, it wasn't a problem. This also occurs with my larger home amplifier, so don't believe it's an amplifier issue, but rather grounding or dirty power. There was also a small electrical smell from the amplifier vents. The smell didn't increase and dissipated a little (but still there) while using the amp for a week. Playing music from Amazon's music service via Blue-Tooth from a smart-phone, it connected easily with the BT-398A with no issues. The amplifier provided good sound-staging and music appeared to extend beyond the speakers. Since the bookshelf speakers were successful, continued testing with tower speakers (NHT VT-2). With the tower speakers, the amplifier provided a neutral sound, with good soundstage and detail. There was bass, not boomy, but less weigh and feel as compared to a more expensive amplifier. The power provided by the amplifier was adequate to drive the large tower speakers (didn't have the volume control pass the eleven o'clock position, didn't want to chance clipping the speakers) and volume was adequate for demonstrations purposes. Next connected the amplifier to a line source (Sony Blu-Ray player, BDP-S550) and played some CDs. Sound was also as expected, good soundstage, detail, and pleasant sounding. Comparing the DAC from the Sony to the built-in DAC of the BT-398A, the Sony is a tad better, but close. The remote is plastic and cheap looking, but works. The power cord is a little short, so an extension cord was needed to connect to power. The amplifier also has inputs for a microphone, which I didn't have, to test that feature. Overall, the BT-398A was a pleasant surprise, it sounded better than it should for the price, liked the various options to connect to external devices, and the overall sound quality. Rated 5-stars Update: Connected to my computer using the bookshelf speakers (5" woofers) and it sounded great! Seems like more bass punch and reminds me of my larger speakers. The speakers are about 3' from my sitting position to the monitor, playing HiRez music files from Youtube.
