  • Is it worth it? Sewing Edition
The media could not be loaded. After going through this book and trying some designs out, I can honestly say I really enjoyed this book. I think the pictures and illustrations are clear- although practice will definitely be needed. If you are into historic costume you would love this book as so many of the golden manipulations you see on the lovely clothes are given. For those in fashion design this is a nice way to decide on some interesting details that can be added. Is it worth it? Yes. Is it a must have for me? I would say yes. This book does not have as many manipulations as the book by Colette Wolff but I feel this one is much more user friendly, and real life applicable. ... show more

  • This book also is a great reference book for "quilting" and different variations of "quilting" ...
Directions are clear and concise. I have not had time to do any of the projects in the book yet, but cannot wait to try them. I am a beginner at "smocking" and "sewing" and still learning the steps and techniques.. The directions in this book will make learning a whole lot easier. Anybody new at "smocking", or anybody who wants to learn will definitely benefit by purchasing this book. This book also is a great reference book for "quilting" and different variations of "quilting" such as "trapunto", "applique", "pleating" etc. Good Information on fabrics, techniques and tools for the beginner or advanced sewer because everybody needs a little extra help now and then! Very informative book to have as a reference book whenever you are working on ANY sewing project and need extra help or have questions. Thanks Sandy ... show more

  • Cheap paper
The book is filled with great info - sadly, book was printed on the cheap. Or, seems like it has. Thinner than usual cover stock. The pictures are fuzzy due to the cold-press/porous paper they have chosen to use but pics are viewable enough for demonstration purposes [not for fine detail though, annoying]. I'm praying paper is acid free because it doesn't feel like it is/doesn't say so on copyright page. If it starts turning yellow, I'll have to spend another $18.00 photocopying the book onto acid-free paper so the information will last into the future of my lifetime. -------------------------- I expected a better-quality book for the price [printed as if it was a 12.95 price point], but I guess that's the way the world is nowadays/what the current generation will accept as quality... charge as much as you possibly can while using the cheapest possible materials you can get away with/what the market will bear. Thats how it's always been, I know... it's just that I didn't grow up accepting that $8.00 for a cup of coffee made any sense or $4.00 for a cheap fast-food hamburger that tastes like garbage was a reasonable expectation. I'm old school. OK, I'm done. I'm going to go try manipulating some fabric using the book... ... show more

  • Great ideas
I have a whole handbag sewing business and I'm having a block on new ideas. The hardest thing about sewing handbags is the work that is done inside; like pockets and zipper placement. I wanted more structure for the outside that catches the customers eye. I have looked at several resources on the Internet and none of those resources have given such great instructions. This is a must have for your sewing library. ... show more

Who has time, right? But I'm one of those who loves to have directions in hand - and also details and photos - to create something when I'm ready! Thank you for the quick delivery and very good condition.

  • Fuel your Creativity with this book
This book is amazing!! I love it. I have used it with both fabric and paper designs. The directions are very clear and there are so many ways to use the techniques. As a costumer, I loved being able to experiment with these fun techniques as trim or additional texture to my creations. I really recommend it for sewers who love to experiment or add detail to their work. ... show more

  • Origami lover finds new outlet in fabric
I was already into origami when I discovered quilting, so naturally I have sewn and been aware of folded fabric quilt flowers and other designs. I have never seen the array I found here, though, and I am ready to try many of them. Quite a source of inspiration.
