I purchased 2 of these books to give to a grandmother recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. I wanted her to take time to remember her past and share these memories with her two granddaughters. She loved receiving the books and is loving the prompts that make her think about her life and gives her a project and purpose for a meaningful daily task. The book is sturdy, with a beautiful cover and binding. The book prompts memories through questioning, journaling, photo blanks, diagrams to fill and so much more. Bought one for each grandparent as a Christmas gift. I really hope they take the time to fill them out. It occurred to me reading through the prompts how little I know even about my own parents when they were young. The fabric cover is beautiful and I feel like it won't look dated as my child ages and I pass them on. The variety of questions is good and allows for some flexibility depending on each person's history. For example, my mother-in-law is adopted, so she won't know some of the details about her birth. But there are so many other sections, I think she can skip over it without feeling too awkward. Grandparents seemed to love the idea and I look forward to reading their answers! ... show more

Sadly, I realized it won't work for the gift I intended. But if you're looking for a keepsake book for a grandparent to tell their grandchild about their life, get this one. Gifted to my mother in law to let her know we were expecting our first baby (her first grandchild). She understood almost immediately and cried in joy.
