The packaging came a little bent, but these pens work amazingly. I’ve been using them for a month now and am extremely impressed with the pens ability to retain ink and then spread that ink across surfaces. I mainly use the pens to draw on mixed media paper just for reference. If you’re worried about testing out yet another set of pens, then rest easy taking a risk with these. ... show more

The ink color of these pens is truly _beautiful_. I wanted a rich sanguine color similar to what's found in many Renaissance drawings/sketches. Because it is neither too light nor too dark, the color works well with many types of drawings. I had excellent results with still life, figure drawing (both gestures & renderings), and landscape. It's particularly great for studies and helps make them a lot more fun. My warm gray big brush set (same brand) also complemented them very well. The ink dries quickly, and is extremely waterproof. I was able to place watercolor washes without issue. The tip variety is good, but for filling big areas a big brush would be better. The S, F, and M nibs are similar to the 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 nibs of other brands. The brush tip has good variety, from _very_ fine up to 2 or 3 mm. The brush tip can be pulled out and flipped around if/when it gets worn down. The downside is that they are disposable. They seem to last a pretty long time, but I still wish they used refills or cartridges. I'd be even happier if they sold bottled ink... Regardless, this is the best you can do for sanguine ink drawings, AFAIK -- intriguing color, archival, great lightfastness, waterproof, etc. ... show more

All the pens work besides 0.3, its like it ran out of ink and is completely dry after a few drawing attempts That sucks but otherwise the others work just fine

These pens are great quality and the st provides you with 4 varying thicknesses of ink. Its a perfect sample set. My son is taking art classes and he is giving me mini lessons each week. You're never to old to be creative! These pens are the foundation of our art supplies. Now I want to take a formal brush lettering class. I also use these pens to write in our family genealogy book. The ink is permanent, waterproof, acidfree, and pH neutral so I feel confident it will last through the years. There are many uses for these pens.
