Not the sturdiness tines, but moreso lacks leverage because of the expanded handle. It doesn't lock and will rotate/spin compared to a solid handle.

I thought this being made of metal and being adjustable was perfect for me. Right when I got it out of the box and put it together I could see it had issues. Trying to make the rake larger made the metal teeth warp and not line up straight. So I go to use it to rake up some small sticks and leaves under a bush and within 10 mins the piece meant to hold the teeth falls off and the metal teeth bend too easy. I’m not sure what this would be useful for. I guess an adjustable rake just isn’t a realistic thing. Being returned now

I like the adjustability of the width of the rake. It is light weight which is good for working in small areas. The handle does not give me confidence about doing larger tasks or dealing with a lot of wet leaves. It just doesn't feel as solid or sturdy as I would have hoped or liked.

Overall, I am happy with this adjustable rake, even though mine has trouble staying open at its maximum width. The screw and bolt won't hold it open as wide as it can go, although I may be putting too much tension on it. So it tends to collapse down a bit from the full width possible. That being said, I am really surprised at how useful it is at the medium to smaller width. I am used to dealing with the inexpensive wide leaf rakes found at most big box stores, and having this smaller, but stronger rake has really helped in getting around flower beds, and getting close to the edges of the house, and around small spaces around the porch. It was extremely easy to assemble. I use the rake at the maximum handle length although a shorter person might like a handle segment left out. Its nice to have the option. So, although I briefly considered sending it back, I have found it to be more sturdy than expected, and very helpful. I think I used more than the larger plastic leaf rake now, and just use the other one for filling the bags with leaves/grass for disposal. The smaller rake does the hard work!
