  • Great attachment to EGO products
OK, so this thing works really well. I was very doubtful at first but since I own a bunch of Ego items and have been very impressed in the past, I got this to replace my full size snowblower when I moved to the city and did not have a big driveway to plow. So far, I've used it in the past three snowstorms and this has worked very well. Does great with a light dusting at 1" and did well when we got 6" and more. With the thicker stuff, you just need to go a bit slower and know what you have. It's not a snowblower. Don't expect to do a parking lot with this and not need shoulder surgery and have back issues for the next day. For sidewalks and small/medium PAVED driveways it works well. Again... like any snowblower this will not work on gravel driveways unless you like throwing rocks into your neighbors cars and windows. Speaking of throwing snow, this thing does it well and throws its clear into the road so remember to change the angle and not tick off your neighbors. There is no setting for height just the angle but that is fine. The only real issues I had was occasionally if you push too hard into thick 6" snow, it may get jammed up but that can be easily poked out. The other issue I had was how it's designed. Holding the handle and heavy battery end took a bit of a work out and showed me how much I need to lift weights more. A better design on where the battery goes and handle would be great but then it won't fit on the weedwacker part so who knows. Guess I need to hit the gym more. Overall, it's been great and has very good battery life. Makes shoveling the sidewalk quick and fun. ... show more

  • Impressive
I finally got to use it today and was much better than I expected. We had a pretty good wet snowfall today and it ate up that snow with ease. We had about 4 to 6 inches and it did however struggle with the higher levels but had no problem with around 4 inches. It is kind of heavy and cumbersome but going in a straight line was very easy to use. In tight spots however it is a lot of back and fourth and lifting the shovel and carrying it back to a position that is best to go in a straight line if possible. Overall better than a shovel but probably not as good as a snow blower but more convenient and easier to store and less expensive. ... show more

  • Works well
*Update 2: I've now used this through most of one of the worst winters that we've had in a while (northern Utah). This has worked great for me. I've seen reviews that this shovel can't handle slush, but there is a bit of a learning curve of how to use, how fast, etc. you can use it, but it'll handle most anything if you don't just plow through as fast as you can. Full sized snow blowers can have the same problem and it's actually a lot like mowing through longer grass. Also, if your batteries are dying, you might have problems. This unit is like the older Ego leaf blowers that eat through batteries. That said, I have a driveway that's probably double the average around here with a pretty long sidewalk and one 5ah battery almost always finishes. I've only done up to 6-8 inches high at the most, so I can't comment on heavier storms, but if you're consistently getting much more than that you'd probably want a real snow blower. For smaller storms this is way faster than a bigger snow blower (ease of use). Again, my biggest complaints are still that this shovel is heavy and the bottom blade is plastic that breaks easily, but my lower back just says thank you! *Update* Used it a couple of times more and love it even more. I just shoveled through 4 inches of wet slush that compacted very easily. Shovel handled it with ease, threw the crazy heavy stuff with no problem almost as far and only clogged a few times (with the slush) but was way easy to clear. *As a disclaimer, I've only had a chance to use this once, but here's my experience.* Shoveling a couple of inches of snow when it was powder was amazing. When it got slushy, it clogged a bit, but was super easy to clear and if I just gave it a second to fully ramp up before pushing it into snow, then there was no problems. The shovel is super powerful and can shoot the snow as far as it claims and the directional adjustments are super easy to use. All in all, I love this! Now for some cons that could be a deal breaker for some. The shovel with multi head motor and battery combined are pretty heavy. When you're pushing it's not hard to use and you don't notice it, but if you lift it a lot, it's heavy and I was definitely feeling it in my arms after. The bottom of the shovel is just plastic and with my first use, it already chipped off around a 1 inch piece so I'm not very convinced that it'll last very long so I might reinforce it with a piece of metal or something. My biggest problem that I is that because the shovel is so powerful, if you run over a pebble, it gets stuck very easily. I had to stop and break out rocks quite a few times. Rocks are also pretty hard to get out. At one point I had to take a long screw driver and hammer to a pebble to break it in half just to get it unstuck because it was wedged in there so bad. This is probably an inherent problem of these products, not just this specific one, but it would be super nice to have an easier way to clear obstructions. But despite all those problems, I was able to shovel my driveway and sidewalks in less than half the time and without any back pain so a big win for me. ... show more

  • Way too heavy!!
It works really well in 4" of snow or less, but takes a little bit of effort with a greater snowfall. The biggest issue for me is that it is pretty heavy. Forget about lifting it to try to work on a higher snowfall. Even just doing stairs was difficult. Also, I am 6'2" and even at full extension, I need to bend at the waist while using it. That did not work well for my back. If you are under 5'10" tall and just want to push it along your walkway or driveway, it may work for you. ... show more

  • Mechanical Failure after 20 Minutes
I bought this about a month and a half ago and needed it for the first time today. I would stress that for the 20 or so minutes this thing was working, it was amazing. But after that 20 minutes the rotating impeller basically stopped powering through anything. At the lightest resistance it would stop, rendering the attachment completely useless. I have it paired with a PH1420. Initially it was great, throwing the snow well off my driveway and I was encouraged. But to just mechanically fail after 20 or so minutes speaks to something just being under-engineered, and as such in my opinion, overpriced. Perhaps it speaks to my own cynicism, but I cannot help but note that it was great for roughly as long as something needs to function to get through a typical YouTube comparison video. Which coincidentally was how I decided on this particular unit. This was my first foray into the Ego ecosystem (also bought the BBA2100 and the aforementioned PH1420) and I am hugely disappointed. My suggestion to fence-sitters is to stay far away from this product. Right now my perception is that I have simply lit several hundred dollars on fire now with the fresh prospect of spending still more (and time) to try to get it fixed. If by some miracle the warranty is honored I will revise this review accordingly, but it's worth noting it'll likely be next year before my area has another snowfall in which I might be able to validate a replacement or repaired version. It failed when I needed it. ... show more

  • Great tool. Fast, efficient, speedy and easy to use.
First, I didn't understand that it did not come with the handle part that attaches to the battery. I have other EGO batteries and tools so I ordered this thinking that was all I needed. I ended up getting the multi head handle at Ace to use with this (rather expensive when you consider no new battery was included in any of it). But I used the shovel for the first time today and I am very very pleased. It is fast, and works great. I would say we have about 3 inches of snow here this morning and that was absolutely no problem for the shovel which could keep up at whatever speed I cared to walk (which was pretty fast). This took so much less time and effort to shovel and I am very glad that I ordered it. I only used my smaller battery (2.5 A.H.) and it had plenty of power. ... show more

  • Worth the price
It seems like one of the more expensive attachments and I was a little weary as we get some pretty heavy snow in the PNW. After using it I understand why and it's well worth it so far I've only used it on heavy wet several day old snow with ice chunks the kind that would never go through a conventional snowblower without plugging up and it still picks it up and throws it 20-30 ft. I can't wait to use it as a maintenance item to remove fresh snow it should be extremely convenient. It does not scratch the surface of what you are trying to remove the snow from either. Some people will complain that it doesn't do a perfect job but what is left can be cleared up with a leaf blower easily or 2 seconds with a push broom or shovel. Battery life is comparable to what all the other attachments are. Only downside is the same thing with all the attachments it's just a little heavy. Direction control is so so but as with most things if you rework the way you plan to move your snow it's not too bad when all the way side to side it does reduce the distance quite a bit. ... show more

  • This worked amazingly and surprisingly well!
We'd gone 2 winters without snow. I'd contemplated having some type of snow removal machine on hand but couldn't justify the cost and stowage. I'd wanted the Ego Multi-head for other things its capable of supporting so getting the power snow shovel attachment seemed like a good compromise. When we got forecast for 22" of snow and knowing that often the biggest barrier to getting anywhere after snow is just getting out of the driveway I felt like trying the Ego Snow shovel attachment was worth a try. I was skeptical. The snow we ended up getting might have been "goldilocks" snow as it was 5-7" of powder but the snow shovel absolutely kicked butt, easily clearing a fairly long driveway of that snow in 30 minutes on 1 battery. I'm not sure how it would do on deeper or heavier/wetter snow but it I think it could be a significant aid even as opposed to trying to shovel. And with the speed and efficiency I experienced one could potentially clear snow as it falls, staying ahead of high depth and weight. ... show more
