  • Great little power blower/shovel for the price
Style: Snow Shovel Attachment
I had the multi-head tool already with a few other attachments. I figured I'd give this a try, under $200, and I don't have to store a big snow blower. We don't get a lot of snow, a couple times a year. I used this on the first snow, 3-4 inches of very wet and very heavy snow. It bogged down a few times but did a pretty good job for a handheld really. I'm fairly impressed. It is a bit heavy but once you get used to pushing it around and letting it do the work, it works well. ... show more

  • Works well
Style: Snow Shovel Attachment
*Update 2: I've now used this through most of one of the worst winters that we've had in a while (northern Utah). This has worked great for me. I've seen reviews that this shovel can't handle slush, but there is a bit of a learning curve of how to use, how fast, etc. you can use it, but it'll handle most anything if you don't just plow through as fast as you can. Full sized snow blowers can have the same problem and it's actually a lot like mowing through longer grass. Also, if your batteries are dying, you might have problems. This unit is like the older Ego leaf blowers that eat through batteries. That said, I have a driveway that's probably double the average around here with a pretty long sidewalk and one 5ah battery almost always finishes. I've only done up to 6-8 inches high at the most, so I can't comment on heavier storms, but if you're consistently getting much more than that you'd probably want a real snow blower. For smaller storms this is way faster than a bigger snow blower (ease of use). Again, my biggest complaints are still that this shovel is heavy and the bottom blade is plastic that breaks easily, but my lower back just says thank you! *Update* Used it a couple of times more and love it even more. I just shoveled through 4 inches of wet slush that compacted very easily. Shovel handled it with ease, threw the crazy heavy stuff with no problem almost as far and only clogged a few times (with the slush) but was way easy to clear. *As a disclaimer, I've only had a chance to use this once, but here's my experience.* Shoveling a couple of inches of snow when it was powder was amazing. When it got slushy, it clogged a bit, but was super easy to clear and if I just gave it a second to fully ramp up before pushing it into snow, then there was no problems. The shovel is super powerful and can shoot the snow as far as it claims and the directional adjustments are super easy to use. All in all, I love this! Now for some cons that could be a deal breaker for some. The shovel with multi head motor and battery combined are pretty heavy. When you're pushing it's not hard to use and you don't notice it, but if you lift it a lot, it's heavy and I was definitely feeling it in my arms after. The bottom of the shovel is just plastic and with my first use, it already chipped off around a 1 inch piece so I'm not very convinced that it'll last very long so I might reinforce it with a piece of metal or something. My biggest problem that I is that because the shovel is so powerful, if you run over a pebble, it gets stuck very easily. I had to stop and break out rocks quite a few times. Rocks are also pretty hard to get out. At one point I had to take a long screw driver and hammer to a pebble to break it in half just to get it unstuck because it was wedged in there so bad. This is probably an inherent problem of these products, not just this specific one, but it would be super nice to have an easier way to clear obstructions. But despite all those problems, I was able to shovel my driveway and sidewalks in less than half the time and without any back pain so a big win for me. ... show more

  • Weight
Style: Snow Shovel & Power Head Kit
Wanted this work so bad. To heavy for an older female. Awesome product. Moves snow great and works awesome. just to heavy even using the backpack for the battery. Love EGO products though.

  • Great addition to the snow arsenal
Style: Snow Shovel & Power Head Kit
Wow. I was extremely frustrated with the amount of time it took to get this delivered. It was totally worth the wait. At almost 7500ft in Colorado, and in this particular region, we get snow, sometimes lots of it. Normally clear the 600 ft driveway with a compact tractor mounted plow or snowblower (bigger storms). But, both are way too big for the walkways. Shoveling sucks, even though the snow is typically relatively light. When it's really cold and dry, a leaf blower actually works really well (better, when the conditions are right). Researched heavily, finally landed on this. Partly because it met all the needs for the tool (and then some, I've discovered), and it's versatility. So many tool options for this battery system, and the power head this system comes with can be attached to other devices. As far as the performance, I really couldn't be happier. Completely exceeded my expectations, and threw snow further than the 25ft as indicated. Also, the path behind it is clear, although only 12". It is a little unwieldy, I'll admit that, but if you let the tool do the work, managing the weight is easy... just leave it in contact with the ground, slide it into the snow. A shoulder strap MIGHT help, but given a slippery surface, I think that's more dangerous than helpful. Positioning the handle in the right spot helps with balance and movement. Only thing I would change is a slightly steeper adjusted angle on the discharge to the side (it will discharge left center or right, but not as much as I'd like) . I can see it would effect the discharge distance, but, I'd give up 10 feet for a little more directing towards the side. Not a showstopper, though, still totally worth it. I moved snow in some places that was 10-12" deep, it's rated for 6, some of it wet and icy, the tool never experienced an overload reset, I never really waited for it to "catch up," and went a solid 20 minutes and the battery was down to 20%. I would absolutely recommend this shovel for anyone that has a variety of short use (less than an hour) tool needs, and limited access to corded power. It's a beast. Should have gotten it years ago. Also have a blower, getting the trimmer, and one of the chainsaws. Goodbye 2-cycle carburetor rebuilds. Also thinking about the 'generator,' which holds four batteries, and supplies decent 110v for a while, silently. Last note. The batteries, coming in different capacities, ain't cheap. There are plenty of substitutes, but, I am very impressed with the build quality of the original batteries and the chargers (I have the 5ah batteries, those normally take a while to charge... This system is really fast, comparatively). ... show more

  • Very heavy tool
Style: Snow Shovel & Power Head Kit
The product was easy to assemble. It works pretty good overall. I’m surprised it will blow ice below the snow. However, I think it is poorly designed. The weight is in the battery which is on the end of the handle, so it is not balanced. The battery or weight should be on the auger where you need and want it. I find myself struggling to hold the auger up as to blow the light snow but because the tool is heavy I have to lower the auger. I then have to use my strength and weight behind it to plow through the ice. Best to use after recent snow storms. ... show more

  • Sure beats a standard (manual) snow shovel
Style: Snow Shovel Attachment
This EGO Snow Shovel is another attachment for their power head, which I have and use with other attachments. It worked wonderfully for our first snowfall of the season this year (which is the only time I've used it so far). We had about 2" of snow which I thought to be not enough to warrant using my EGO snow blower. I plowed our driveway and all the sidewalks around our house and along the street in front of our house. No lifting of shovels of snow to pile it alongside the path. This is really slick! I even plowed my neighbors' sidewalks since it did not take me much time to do my own, and I was outside anyway. ... show more
