  • Reoccurring problem
Color: Textured Black
I have now had the product for a few days and I’m encountering problems. Originally my review was 5 stars but for some odd reason the paddles keep going into remap mode randomly while playing games causing the paddles to be unresponsive. It only happens about once every hour or so but it has gotten me killed and it’s frustrating to see that the remap function light was activated. I know for a fact I’m not holding r1+l1+down+x for 5 seconds in game. What gives? Otherwise it would be absolutely flawless... awaiting for a response please. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Color: Black Silver Carbon Fiber
Leaving this at 5 stars for now, I will update it if things change. It is a new product but it was pretty simple to install. The hardest part by far was putting the back shell back on after everything was installed. If you do not want to remap touchpad and R3/L3 this is a solderless so that is a huge plus. P.S. Have some double-sided tape handy. ... show more

  • Good kit, some quality control and improvements needed
Color: Black Silver Carbon Fiber
Overall a good idea and the kit does as advertised adding rear buttons, though several improvements are needed. I installed it on a JDM-040 that came with a new PS4 Pro. Pros: The buttons can be remapped on the fly and feel pretty good. You can assign any of the shoulder buttons, the 4 face buttons, or the 4 d-pad directions to any of the rear buttons. It is a good DIY option for someone who want to use an original Sony controller. The charging and wireless functions of the controller are unaffected and you can turn on the console with the controller and use the headset 3.5mm jack unlike with some third party controllers/mods. No soldering required if you don’t need to remap L3, R3, or the touchpad. No drilling or cutting holes for buttons required because the replacement rear shell is provided. Cons: There were few noticeable quality control issues with the kit. The original board/wiring I received had one of the four buttons not registering and I had to request a replacement. Second, one of the button covers was a darker color than the others (see pic). Finally, the molding of the rear shell is OK but not perfect - the seams in a few places where the front and rear meet like at the handles don’t fit as neatly as the original shell and you can feel the unevenness while holding the controller. The touch sensing foil for activating the remap mode isn’t great. When it’s installed in the recommended location, it triggers the remap mode accidentally if I rest the controller on my lap. I had to move the foil to a location under the light bar to prevent this from happening (see pic). I’d suggest they just add another small button to activate remap instead of the touch foil because of this problem and because holding down L1+R1+D+X is annoying to do in-game. Button placement depends on how you hold the controller, but for me all 4 buttons use the middle finger to reach and the upper buttons are in a location too easy to accidentally press. I’d prefer if those were moved below to the handles and used ring finger or pinky to reach. This may or may not be possible due to clearance issues with the vibration motors. I hope these are issues they can fix in a V2 of the kit, but it works pretty well if you get used to the faults. Edit (1 month after installation): The carbon fiber pattern has started wearing off already in some places after about 30 hours of gaming, so be aware if you pick one of the versions with a printed pattern. See last pic. Buttons still work fine. ... show more

  • So worth
Color: Black
This is a day one quick/dirty review and will be updated after a week of use. So far this thing is awesome. Installed it in about 45mins or so using the () controller without any issues. Instructions are actually very clear and the pictures tell a thousand words. Everything fit together nice didn't seem to be to cramped for space and was easy to close the controller when done. The new back plastic controller mold did not snap closed like the old one, but once the 4 screws are back in, it lines up nice and closes perfect. I did solder it and it was really easy even if you've never soldered before you could do it, just watch a quick vid on soldering. It's one point on the ribbon cable and 2 wires. Does not need to be soldered, but it's so easy to do I wouldn't do it without soldering unless you have no choice. Only issue I had with the install was the double sided tape the instructions called for is not included (it should be), but it's not needed I just used a small piece of Scotch tape on the very edges of the ribbon cable to hold in place. Once the ribbon cable is soldered it holds in place fine. I only played a few games with it, but works flawlessly so far. Remapping is easy and once you know how to do it, it only takes a few seconds. The buttons have a click unlike the face buttons on PS4 which could be a positive or negative depending on you're preference. Other reviewers stated not being able to hit a back button at the same time as other buttons I have not noticed this issue at all I can hit l1, r1, and any back or face buttons at the sametime with no issues. I highly recommend over a scuff! 2 weeks later still highly recommend. I did have to move the copper heat detecting pad to a different location as it would keep entering remap mode. Probably didn't help I like to set the controller in my lap. I just soldered one of the extra longer wires giving enough length to place the copper pad under lightbar plastic. If it ever became an issue you could just totally remove the copper pad and use the r1, l1,down, x button combo to enter remap mode instead. ... show more
