    • Works great on old Kenmore water heater.
Had both upper and lower thermostats and heating elements. Wiring pattern on the thermostats is apparently universal as it works for various makes and models. It was easy to install. The heating elements, however, we’re a little difficult to remove (especially the bottom element). Lime build-up cakes up on the elements. A lot of finessing and a lot of patience and finally got the bottom one out. Top was easy. Turn off electricity, turn off water supply, turn on hot water on one faucet to vent system, connect garden hose to water heater drain fitting, drain water from heater , replace top element, remove bottom element ,replace both thermostats, make sure mineral deposits are flushed out of bottom of tank, scoop out or vacuum out as needed, replace bottom heating element, close drain valve, double check electrical connections, turn off hot water at open faucet, turn back on water supply to hot water heater, fill tank, flip breaker back on to supply electricity to the water heater, check for leaks, listen for the water boiling in the tank, replace access panels and insulation. ... show more

    • Fixed my problem
This kit is great priced, I got it to replace both upper and lower elements and at the time of buying, it seemed to be cheaper to buy this kit than to buy separate elements, only you also get thermostats with this. It took me about 30 minutes to drain my tank, 5 minutes to replace the top element and 5 minutes to replace the bottom element. My bottom element was all sorts of old and gunny, it was stuck in there and I had to use a breaker bar to break it loose. If you don't have the tool to pull the elements, I would recommend spending the 15 bucks for the special socket, made it so simple. I went from having 8 minutes of hot water to 35 minutes. Will buy again when I need it. ... show more

    • Why call someone when you can do it yourself?
It was so easy to replace! Don’t know why I didn’t do this before! Two elements and therms to replace. I also bought the special wrench adapter to remove the elements. Easy to drain tank (remember to cut power to the tank and use up the hot water before turning off the water supply to the tank) and drain. Remove the elements (top first) and then the bottom. Remember to take a pic of how the wires go so you can restore it the same way. Regular garden hose works when the water is no longer hot. So inexpensive you gotta do it! ... show more
