Heavy box. That’s good. Everything came in great shape. I installed the blade, squared up the fence. That’s easy just stuck a speed square into the cutting slot on the left edge and slid the fence up to it. Want 45 flop the square NDA. There is a scale ruler although hard to read. But square up zero double check the 45 and your scale will work perfect. I’m going to Engrave a bright white line so the scale ruler (protractor) is easier to read. You’ve all probably seen 7/8” concrete form stakes. They’re steel and pretty hard. The end was mushroomed over from many hits from a sledge hammer. To test the saw I slid the pipe adapter which is heavy duty over the fence. It’s very strong and will hold the pipe off the table no vibration etc. I just wanted to clean up the stake and test the saw. I locked the stake in place and hit the switch to turn on the saw. Immediately senced the torque. I wasn’t hanging on tight to the handle and the saw blade was pushed toward me for a second. I have a lot of wood cutting Dewalt slide compound saws. Those are pretty powerful bit not like this saw. As I started lowering the blade to the stake, slowly because it was the first time I used a cold cut saw and didn’t want to damage the blade. DIDNT feel anything looked around at the stake and was already half through. Super clean cut. There are a lot more expensive saws. I will never use this professionally since I’m retired and doing little jobs here and there. Unless you are a factory cutting thousands of parts, you can’t go wrong with this saw. Checked the blade after use. It was still brand new. Metal was cold. A couple sparks at first then nothing. Great well built saw for a great price. Just buy it. I gotta say I’ve never cut steel more than a couple days here and there, just like my shop of many tools. I do a lot of different things. My shops full of grizzly tools. Less than half the price than delta, my 10 inch 3 hp cabinet saw which cost me about 1200 bucks over 30 years ago is still working great. This evolution saw will also with good maintenance will out live me.

I’ve been cutting 3/16” x 6” wide metal plate into 2” pieces with an abrasive cut wheel on my 4” angle head grinder for students to practice welding on. That has been a terrible ordeal to say the least. It takes forever to cut a piece out then you have to grind the burs and sweep up the metal dust from the cut. Not to mention all the sparks you’re blowing out. But now - this Evolution 14” saw has made a world of difference. It cuts FAST, it cuts STRAIGHT, it cuts CLEAN. It does put off cut chips but much easier to clean those up. No more grinding off the burs or hoping the cut is straight enough to work with. I only wish I had purchased this a long time ago. Adjustments for angles are easy enough to set up. The shadow light is very accurate. It’s not as loud as I thought it would be. Plenty of power for smooth fast cuts. I’ve been checking for accurate degrees of cut and it’s all good so far. It seems to built like a tank. Nothing wiggles. It functions 100 percent like it is advertised. I should get many years of use out of this saw.

After using this saw for several projects I am very impressed with it. I have used the Dewalt version of this saw at work for years, so when it was time to set up my home welding & fabrications shop i knew I wanted a cold cutoff saw and I looked at several models on amazon including the Dewalt and this saw. I decided to take a chance on this saw due to the positive reviews and lower price and I'm so glad I did. Out of the box I was impressed with the build quality and the angle clamp. It even includes a v-block for cutting round stock and pipe. The angle adjustment is easy to adjust, solid and accurate, way better than the Dewalt. It cuts mild steel angle and tubing very quickly and the cuts are nice and clean almost burr free. When my saw first arrived and I went to install the blade I discover that it had shipped with the wrong blade, I got the 15" blade and this is Evolutions 14" saw. I contacted Evolution customer service by email and explained the mistake to them. Their reply was prompt and courteous, they apologized for the mistake and promptly shipped the correct blade out to me. So in conclusion if you are looking for a metal cutoff saw you can't go wrong with this Evolution.

The media could not be loaded. So my first impression out of the box was it’s “crap!” The blade is not square to the table by a pretty big margin. So I found someone on YouTube with the same issue and he explains how to fix it. So I did what he recommended and shimmed the motor and got it perfectly square. See photos for shim I used and location on the saw. I took a few cuts and I’m extremely impressed by the saw. It really cuts steel like butter with no sparks whatsoever. Work slowly and don’t force the blade through the steel let it cut its way through. I cut pieces upto 1.5” x 4” with no problems. Although only about 25% of the chips make it into the box underneath the saw the rest are scattered around the shop like fairy dust. They glitter and shine as you walk by and catch a glimpse, these will surely end with rust spots pretty much everywhere. Wear all the protective gear you would expect when cutting metal and all will be fine. So 4 stars are for the required squaring of the blade which should be in the included manual otherwise I really like this saw. So I changed my rating to 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been using this saw for a bunch of projects and it is really a great saw. Once you get it dialed in it you can make repeated square cuts with no further adjustment. I have cut a multitude of different types of material with the same results and I would say it is nothing less than perfect.
