  • I am so impressed, great saw and blade at a big box store price. Heavy feels and cuts great.
Style: S355CPSL (Gen 1)
Heavy box. That’s good. Everything came in great shape. I installed the blade, squared up the fence. That’s easy just stuck a speed square into the cutting slot on the left edge and slid the fence up to it. Want 45 flop the square NDA. There is a scale ruler although hard to read. But square up zero double check the 45 and your scale will work perfect. I’m going to Engrave a bright white line so the scale ruler (protractor) is easier to read. You’ve all probably seen 7/8” concrete form stakes. They’re steel and pretty hard. The end was mushroomed over from many hits from a sledge hammer. To test the saw I slid the pipe adapter which is heavy duty over the fence. It’s very strong and will hold the pipe off the table no vibration etc. I just wanted to clean up the stake and test the saw. I locked the stake in place and hit the switch to turn on the saw. Immediately senced the torque. I wasn’t hanging on tight to the handle and the saw blade was pushed toward me for a second. I have a lot of wood cutting Dewalt slide compound saws. Those are pretty powerful bit not like this saw. As I started lowering the blade to the stake, slowly because it was the first time I used a cold cut saw and didn’t want to damage the blade. DIDNT feel anything looked around at the stake and was already half through. Super clean cut. There are a lot more expensive saws. I will never use this professionally since I’m retired and doing little jobs here and there. Unless you are a factory cutting thousands of parts, you can’t go wrong with this saw. Checked the blade after use. It was still brand new. Metal was cold. A couple sparks at first then nothing. Great well built saw for a great price. Just buy it. I gotta say I’ve never cut steel more than a couple days here and there, just like my shop of many tools. I do a lot of different things. My shops full of grizzly tools. Less than half the price than delta, my 10 inch 3 hp cabinet saw which cost me about 1200 bucks over 30 years ago is still working great. This evolution saw will also with good maintenance will out live me. ... show more

  • Great saw but one cheap part ruins it all
Style: S14CPS (Gen 2)
It's so sad that you can't buy a quality chop saw anywhere. I tried four brands of abrasive chop saws and they were all garbage so I decided to try an evolution. Honestly the thing cuts beautifully it works great, but they cheaped out where it really mattered. The base and vice on this thing are unacceptable. If you tighten the Vise at all the whole base twists on you and throws your cut off. If it wasn't for that I would get completely straight cuts every time. If I can't get straight cuts the saw is absolutely useless to me. I'm going to rebuild the whole base and fortify it, but it's so sad that I have to do that. It's even sadder that it's not possible to buy quality even when you're willing to throw money at it. ... show more

  • Good quality, plenty of power
Style: EVOSAW380
I have used an abrasive type cut-off saw for years. With a project requiring dozens of cuts on heavy stock, the consumable chop-saw blades were a big cost. Now with this carbide blade, I complete the same cuts with almost no additional cost. The saw is no longer a "consumable" like welding supplies I must factor into the project price. Additionally, the cuts are clean, square and accurate. Cuts are faster and finish cool to the touch. The frame and base are machined cast metal which resists deflection under load. The down side of this unit is the vice handle is flimsy. I have already had to remove it to straighten the tiny threaded screw that holds it in place. It will be broken in no time and need replacement. Also, I wish it had a "zero-clearance" blade throat so small cut off ends would not go zinging into the throat opening like a bullet. That condition also resulted in a channel-iron cut off end jamming the blade causing premature blade damage. So be extra careful trimming end cuts that can fall in. Other than those minor issues, it is a good tool and a very good price. I would buy the same model again. ... show more

  • Works great but longevity in question
Style: S355CPSL (Gen 1)
We use this for cutting metal strips down to proper lengths. Motor has a lot of torque and cuts through the metal like butter. Only downfall is the blade does not last near as long as I thought it would. I melted a blade around about eight “dry” cuts on mild galvanized steel and had to order a new blade. I use cutting the oil on the new blade and have not had any issues with it. For those of you who buy this machine and use their blades, just use cutting oil even though it says it will dry cut just fine. ... show more

  • Outstanding saw, and excellent customer service
Style: S355CPSL (Gen 1)
After using this saw for several projects I am very impressed with it. I have used the Dewalt version of this saw at work for years, so when it was time to set up my home welding & fabrications shop i knew I wanted a cold cutoff saw and I looked at several models on amazon including the Dewalt and this saw. I decided to take a chance on this saw due to the positive reviews and lower price and I'm so glad I did. Out of the box I was impressed with the build quality and the angle clamp. It even includes a v-block for cutting round stock and pipe. The angle adjustment is easy to adjust, solid and accurate, way better than the Dewalt. It cuts mild steel angle and tubing very quickly and the cuts are nice and clean almost burr free. When my saw first arrived and I went to install the blade I discover that it had shipped with the wrong blade, I got the 15" blade and this is Evolutions 14" saw. I contacted Evolution customer service by email and explained the mistake to them. Their reply was prompt and courteous, they apologized for the mistake and promptly shipped the correct blade out to me. So in conclusion if you are looking for a metal cutoff saw you can't go wrong with this Evolution. ... show more
