Heavy box. That’s good. Everything came in great shape. I installed the blade, squared up the fence. That’s easy just stuck a speed square into the cutting slot on the left edge and slid the fence up to it. Want 45 flop the square NDA. There is a scale ruler although hard to read. But square up zero double check the 45 and your scale will work perfect. I’m going to Engrave a bright white line so the scale ruler (protractor) is easier to read. You’ve all probably seen 7/8” concrete form stakes. They’re steel and pretty hard. The end was mushroomed over from many hits from a sledge hammer. To test the saw I slid the pipe adapter which is heavy duty over the fence. It’s very strong and will hold the pipe off the table no vibration etc. I just wanted to clean up the stake and test the saw. I locked the stake in place and hit the switch to turn on the saw. Immediately senced the torque. I wasn’t hanging on tight to the handle and the saw blade was pushed toward me for a second. I have a lot of wood cutting Dewalt slide compound saws. Those are pretty powerful bit not like this saw. As I started lowering the blade to the stake, slowly because it was the first time I used a cold cut saw and didn’t want to damage the blade. DIDNT feel anything looked around at the stake and was already half through. Super clean cut. There are a lot more expensive saws. I will never use this professionally since I’m retired and doing little jobs here and there. Unless you are a factory cutting thousands of parts, you can’t go wrong with this saw. Checked the blade after use. It was still brand new. Metal was cold. A couple sparks at first then nothing. Great well built saw for a great price. Just buy it. I gotta say I’ve never cut steel more than a couple days here and there, just like my shop of many tools. I do a lot of different things. My shops full of grizzly tools. Less than half the price than delta, my 10 inch 3 hp cabinet saw which cost me about 1200 bucks over 30 years ago is still working great. Great saw, cuts aluminum like butter, material stays pretty cool to the touch, much quieter and smooth cutting compared to an abrasive chop saw. Have done many different cuts on 3” and 4” 1/4” square tubing, schedual 40 2 3/4” pipe, 1/2 sucker rod. This saw cuts everything I have needed to cut with ease only downside is that it’s pretty heavy which almost makes me regret not getting the more expensive cast aluminum base version of this saw, however if this is set up in a shop setting or mounted on a welding truck bed the weight wouldn’t be that much of a problem. After using this saw for several projects I am very impressed with it. I have used the Dewalt version of this saw at work for years, so when it was time to set up my home welding & fabrications shop i knew I wanted a cold cutoff saw and I looked at several models on amazon including the Dewalt and this saw. I decided to take a chance on this saw due to the positive reviews and lower price and I'm so glad I did. Out of the box I was impressed with the build quality and the angle clamp. It even includes a v-block for cutting round stock and pipe. The angle adjustment is easy to adjust, solid and accurate, way better than the Dewalt. It cuts mild steel angle and tubing very quickly and the cuts are nice and clean almost burr free. When my saw first arrived and I went to install the blade I discover that it had shipped with the wrong blade, I got the 15" blade and this is Evolutions 14" saw. I contacted Evolution customer service by email and explained the mistake to them. Their reply was prompt and courteous, they apologized for the mistake and promptly shipped the correct blade out to me. So in conclusion if you are looking for a metal cutoff saw you can't go wrong with this Evolution. ... show more

The saw works great. I had one many years ago at a job I had and loved it. Problem is, I saw a bunch of ads for this model and you could see in the pictures a spring loaded plunger that holds the fence at set angle stops. My saw does not have that. No presets. That was something I always wished I had on that saw I used in 2015. I was disappointed to say the least but not as much as I was when I contacted the company to discuss this. They said that I was correct and the saw was indeed advertised as having set stops and that they would look into it and get back to me. I never heard back again and I emailed them 3 more times including screenshot of the ads showing the plunger pin. Still no response. The saw cuts great but make sure you lower the blade very gently into the work or you may break teeth. Its loud but not as bad as a hand grinder cutting stock. I will get alot of use from this saw but damn I wish it had set angle stops like I thought it would (and should). I bounce back and forth between 90 and 45 degrees all the time. I made a jig block but it's not the same. Customer service left alot to be desired and im not happy about that. Fraud in advertising is another way of putting it. ... show more

Heavy duty. Well packaged. Easy to adjust and set up. So much better than abrasive saws. Needs a magnetic trap for shavings that do go everywhere. No complaints, should have purchased earlier.
