    • I am so impressed, great saw and blade at a big box store price. Heavy feels and cuts great.
Heavy box. That’s good. Everything came in great shape. I installed the blade, squared up the fence. That’s easy just stuck a speed square into the cutting slot on the left edge and slid the fence up to it. Want 45 flop the square NDA. There is a scale ruler although hard to read. But square up zero double check the 45 and your scale will work perfect. I’m going to Engrave a bright white line so the scale ruler (protractor) is easier to read. You’ve all probably seen 7/8” concrete form stakes. They’re steel and pretty hard. The end was mushroomed over from many hits from a sledge hammer. To test the saw I slid the pipe adapter which is heavy duty over the fence. It’s very strong and will hold the pipe off the table no vibration etc. I just wanted to clean up the stake and test the saw. I locked the stake in place and hit the switch to turn on the saw. Immediately senced the torque. I wasn’t hanging on tight to the handle and the saw blade was pushed toward me for a second. I have a lot of wood cutting Dewalt slide compound saws. Those are pretty powerful bit not like this saw. As I started lowering the blade to the stake, slowly because it was the first time I used a cold cut saw and didn’t want to damage the blade. DIDNT feel anything looked around at the stake and was already half through. Super clean cut. There are a lot more expensive saws. I will never use this professionally since I’m retired and doing little jobs here and there. Unless you are a factory cutting thousands of parts, you can’t go wrong with this saw. Checked the blade after use. It was still brand new. Metal was cold. A couple sparks at first then nothing. Great well built saw for a great price. Just buy it. I gotta say I’ve never cut steel more than a couple days here and there, just like my shop of many tools. I do a lot of different things. My shops full of grizzly tools. Less than half the price than delta, my 10 inch 3 hp cabinet saw which cost me about 1200 bucks over 30 years ago is still working great. Straight outta da box she cut straight and true. Square as could be! I'm not sure I've ever been as happy with a product as I am with this one. The upgrade from my HF Bauer composite disc chip saw to this is like going from a Yugo to a Lambo. I shoulda bought this first. As we used to say in the gun business, "buy the best, it only hurts once." ... show more

I had been looking for a long time for an affordable metal saw with a cold cut blade and this saw more than exceeded my expectations! I used it to build a patio I fabricated out of steel 2X4 Chanel Iron and was very pleased with the cut quality and the longevity of the blade. The Evolution S380CPS: Metal Cutting Chop Saw With 14 in. Mild Steel Blade (15 in. blade can be fitted). and Evolution S355CPSL sawd are a totaly awesome saw. I have purchased both saws. They has saved me many hours in cutting steel. Iv'e cut a bunch of 3"x3" .120 wall steel tube and cuts a 45deg with a quick vise change setting. My metal band saw gets very little use now. It's a super built heavy duty saw. You will not go wrong in buying one of these saws. They cut very fast and the metal is cool to the touch after cutting. One of the Best tools in my shop. I also have one of their 7 1/2" metal cutting skillsaws which is and awesome saw for even ripping 1/4" steel plate to metal roofing. ... show more

Seems like a nice saw. Reason I went with evolution is because I have dealt with them in the past and they have excellent customer service. This is rare anymore. My only concern is it doesn’t seem possible to order parts for their equipment. I hate to have to buy a new saw when it could be easily repaired. ... show more

    • New vs old model
Seems they did some more R&D when making this new version. Thicker threads on the tightening clamp mechanism is the best advancement. That was the old saws weak link. So that is rectified. I still may order the all thread replacement to have one on hand. The old version of the saw gave me 2 years full time use about 48 railings jobs, so it more than payed for itself. Ultimate it was the clamping system that killed it. It became wore on the threads and just popped the sq tube out and tore the blade housing apart. I made sure to thoroughly look over this redesign before buying. There is almost an 1/8th” crown on top of the threads so it won’t be the weak link. As for the motor,,, the old saw came with a set of extra brushes and I never even had to use them. The performance of the motor on this new version is to or above par of the old one. Feel confident when buying this saw for more than metal hobby shop use. ... show more
