  • problems playing new games on ultra
The card has problems playing my games on ultra settings. Many of my games I can play on ultra settings on a card 2 years old for ati, yet this card since it is not ATI doesn't work on laura croft 2013. It has many areas where stereo scope doesn't work on my 3d monitor for any game. Also the card can't play on ultra settings for very long without having a problem. My 3D monitor passes all Nvidia tests yet it doesn't work in any game. The card when playing Lara Croft actually fails many times inside the game, I have to turn down the settings. You could say this is a bug in the game but it does this on all my high end games that are ATI specific, I thought I try a non-ATI card that was a mistake. Also on the card there are 2 DVI ports yet I can only get one at a time to ever work at once on the back so the port is sort of useless I tried the VGA convert that came with it still doesn't work. I really regret not getting the ATI card now for less money equal power. Nvidia has a tool you can download Nvidia Geforce Experience which tells you what settings you should play a game at. It can't even do ultra on my games listed only default. Yet my two friends have ati cards that run these games Mass Effect 3, Lara Croft on ultra high settings. I understand that some games are ATI specific like Lara Croft yet the game should still be playable in ultra settings without breaking a few seconds yet when I turn them on it lags compared to ATI and it actually breaks the view window when I go around corners or tree branches. Save your money on even a cheaper ATI card damn I feel like a fool for buying this. I will upload a picture of what happens shortly after you play on any high settings in Lara Croft for example. Update 7/9/2013 The customer service took a few weeks to respond. After they did they had very little to help they said they developers were working on it. That was a few months ago. Latest driver months came out recently changes have improved many of my games initial problems of total unplayable games. I no longer have huge breaks in the games in fact I can play it on normal mode without issues. The Ultima settings in Lara Croft still have some issues however the 3D-Monitor part of Lara Croft game now works with latest drivers. So now I can play Lara Croft on my 3D monitor if I wish. That 3D feature is one up on ATI cards. That is the only superior aspect. However I have adjusted my rating giving an extra star from 2 to 4 stars. I can't give it five because it never worked on release had to wait several months after I was finished with games. Also they have poor service then people in forums send me nasty comments because I said ATI works better then this card therefor community wasn't helpful but are bunch of haters. Also some other games had problems like BIO shock extra. That being said the Nvidia brand has better 3D features than ATI. Even gives you a 3d media player but I don't know if anyone even uses anaglyph anymore that is like 1970s tech. I have a flicker free glasses for this 3d monitor (AOC) that work in Laura Croft. I imagine it would probably work on those 3d tvs being used as displays as well. ... show more

  • good but not great
I did a bunch of research online and compared a multitude of different options before finally deciding on this card. I am a big fan of evga, I've had many of the products and have had great luck with them and no serious breakdowns up to this point (knock-on-wood). I was upgrading from a gts 450 which was a very good card considering how much it cost and the performance I got from it and it was a great value and that's what I was looking for when I bought this card. There were a couple of websites that had it listed as a best value for the newer cards also and that ultimately led to my decision on this one. It does offer improvement over my previous gts 450 but not as much as I had expected or I just don't perceive it with the type of demands I put on it. I watch videos and play a couple of online games (WOT and Hawken) and there is some noticeable differences with some of the minor visual effects between this card and the gts 450. It definitely out performs my old card on benchmark tests and i could see how it would do better on some of the higher resolution games and if it were pushing multiple monitors and the such, so for my purposes it might be a bit of overkill, but i wanted a card that performed well and had a high value mark. this one works for me. One of the other benefits of going with a Nvidia card it the GeForce experience, with is a software from Nvidia which is especially for games and matches your video card to pertinent setting for particular games to maximize the aesthetic for that particular game. This option is fantastic for those who don't really want to play around with configuration settings in games or overclocking their cards to maximize the game experience. This software does it for you. I think it's fantastic paired with this card and I would definitely recommend it to others. ... show more

  • Decent, but not great, and power issues.
This is a decent little card. Not too much power, which is seemingly indicated by the fact that it takes only a single power connector, rather than two. It overclocks minimally over its factory overclock, for a minor boost to game frame rates. Overall, I haven't been entirely satisfied with this card. It did not quite seem to live up to the X60 subseries name that prior NVidia cards had, all of which performed close to the level of the X70 subseries cards when overclocked. This card always seem to be a bit short of providing enough power for modern games even at high (rather than ultimate or best) settings. To top it off, this cards single power connector ended up posing a problem for me in its rather short life in my computer. At the time I purchased this, I did not realize (or even think to check) its power requirements, which were 24 amps. My PSU, now rather old, was the 1200 Watt NeoLink NeoPower dual PSU system that came with my Antex P190 case (the original one). The NeoLink was a multi-rail PSU capable of supplying 19 amps per rail. Since this particular card only took a single power connector, it was only able to get 19 amps of power, a shortage of 5 amps. Combined with a hefty CPU overclock (which, as it turned out, was ALSO trying to draw too many amps), I had a severe power shortage in my system. For the duration of time that this card was in my system and functioning, I had growing system instability. After a fairly short life of just under six months, it fried. This issue was my own, as underpowering the card was my own fault, so I did not attempt to RMA it. I had purchased it with a number of Amazon Gift Cards received via Bing Rewards and a few points from my Amazon Rewards card, so I did not really lose any money on it. I am rather disappointed that the card had only one power connector rather than two, as I could have overcome the power shortage if I'd had the option of supplying power from two separate 19 amp rails. Anyway, decent card, but not one I would particularly recommend to anyone for anything. The 700 series are far better, more solid cards, and provide a solid performance benefit over the 600 series. Regardless of what card you buy, however, make sure you have enough power. I've replaced my 1200Watt NeoLink 19 amp PSU with the EVGA 1300Watt G2 108amp PSU, which is powering an SLIed pair of overclocked 760's quite nicely. ... show more
