  • Was a Good Beginner's Graphics Card
This was the first GPU I ever owned. I bought it in high school and installed it inside a pre-built HP desktop with an upgraded PSU. At the time in 2012, this card was sufficient for entry-level gaming. Obviously, I recommend much newer graphics cards (RX 470 4GB, GTX 1060 3GB) for anyone currently looking to try PC gaming. I definitely would have recommended the 2GB version, as 1GB of VRAM felt like too little, even 7 years ago. It required only a single 6-pin PCIe power connector and the fan was fairly quiet under load. It will fit in any case, which was nice since my HP desktop had little spare room. I used the GTX 650 and an Athlon II X4 635 with 4GB of ram to play CoD World at War, Black Ops, Black Ops II, Borderlands 2, and Just Cause 2 at reasonable frame rates and frame times at 1080p. ... show more

  • Decent card for the money
I bought this card around a year ago to upgrade from integrated graphics. I have to say it was a huge improvement. I can play Battlefield 4 on medium settings at about 30-50 FPS on a 1600x900 resolution. The thing about this card is that frames tend to drop down into the 20s on a 1080p resolution on newer titles. The card has been on the market for about 4 or 5 years, so if you want to play the latest titles in 1080p and ultra settings, this card won't do the job. If you're on a budget and you can't afford a badass graphics card, then consider buying the GTX 750 ti 2gb. It isn't much more money than the 650 (maybe $20-$30 more) and it will run newer titles in 1080p just fine. the link to the GTX 750 ti is at the bottom of the review. If you can't afford the extra $20 or $30 for whatever reason, the GTX 650 1GB card isn't bad. keep in mind that the 650 has 384 cuda xores and the 750 ti has 640 cuda cores so an extra bit of money for the 750 ti is very much worth it. • Great card even in 2016
Let be real, you're probably not looking at this card in 2016 (near 2017). But if you are, let me say that I just upgraded to a GTX980. I don't game. And i don't even need the 980. This 650 is actually incredible for what it is. If you consider modern cards and their power, this GPU preforms so well. I have gamed with it. Skyrim on medium settings. 1080p. Works fine. I do CAD/CAM with it. 2D autocad and it works completely fine. I do 3D CAM in Autodesk Fusion 360 and it doesn't even stutter. If you're on a budget, this card works great. I love it and will be keeping it around for other builds. ... show more

  • Better then expected...
Then again I am so used to my old crappy GT 240 that I had low expectations. :P I was surprised to see that this card handles BF4 at high settings (I had texture quality set to Ultra as well, perhaps might handle Ultra, but not going to really push it since it looks good enough for me) on 1680x1050 and was getting close to 60 FPS! Damn good card for the price. At some point I'll get a new monitor that can do full 1080p, so then I can really know how well the card performs at proper HD format for thisgame. I bought this card mainly for my Dolphin emulator (Nintendo GameCube/Wii emulator) as it would randomly crash with the old one. It runs much better on this card. So if you are looking for a good cheap card that Dolphin will get along with, this is the one! :D I don't have much in terms of modern games other then BF3 and BF4. Seeing that BF4 did well, I expect the same or slightly better from BF3. Hard-Core gamers most certainly would need to buy a higher end card, but for the price, this card would be great for most gamers who aren't looking for a fix on power and just want to pop the card in and play modern shooters and the like. :D ... show more

  • Great value for the price!
I got this card to replace a failing 8800GTS. Now, this is installed on what is likely considered a significantly outdated rig. It did, however show marked improvement over the 8800GTS. It wasn't exactly what I hoped for, but given that the processor and motherboard are pushing 6 years old, it really did outperform my expectations (I had hoped for more, but expected less). I was a bit hesitant to buy this card based on a number of reviews that said the fan was louder than expected. I can say that, at least with my setup, this was not the case. The fan on the card was quieter than I had expected, though it can be loud when tuned through the NVidia NTune program. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase for the price. It helped me limp my system along until I'm ready for a new build. ... show more

  • Amazing power for a great price
I bought this hoping it would help me play games like Skyrim and Star Wars : The Old Republic at their highest graphic settings. I was not disappointed. The card installed effortlessly. It does take two slots, so you'll need enough room for it as it is twice the width of a regular card. It comes with an adapter for your power supply if you don't have the power connector it needs. With 4GB of RAM, A dual core processor, and this card, Skyrim autodetected that I could play it at high (not Ultra) resolution. So far it is amazing. I haven't tried Ultra yet, but I'm thinking I might be able to push it a little bit. We'll see. Either way, I am impressed and overjoyed at how well this card is performing. As for Star Wars? Max settings. I can't run Guildwars 2 at max settings. Not sure why. I was having some FPS issues at one point, but that might have been server lag. Not sure. Very worth the price. I'm sure you could get better performance from a higher-priced card, but seriously? For $100 this card is amazing. ... show more
