  • A Good Starting Point And A Foundation For Further Study.
This is a good book for those who are new to guitar or those who are competent at playing guitar, but lack an understanding of basic music theory. It’s long enough to provide an abundance of information and short enough not to become a burdensome read. The author writes in a conversational style, yet is technical enough to give a good foundation in theory should a reader choose to go further in their studies. The book is organized so that it can be read and worked through cover-to-cover or used as a reference for both new and experienced guitarists. This is a good book to try for those guitarists that are from the “I only play by feel” or the “I don’t need theory to play” perspectives. It demonstrates how the theory applies to the subject at hand, yet does it from a non-directive manner. More like advice on how music works, in case someone wants to know. I think any guitarist could benefit from this book. ... show more

  • Good for beginners
I have some experience but needed to go over the basics and start at the beginning. This has some great fundamentals and helpful charts. Breaks concepts down well to understand

  • Absolutely outstanding!!!
I’ve been in the music world for quite some time know, and all I can say is wow! This book was easy to read not too much information that would bog down the reader but just enough. Like I always said, I’m my opinion there is no beginner or expert when it comes to music because there is always more you can learn or something new that you pick up from others or from a book. This book was just that for me, so wether you are advanced or just beginning this book will guide you along on journey for greatness. Thanks again for the read, and hope it touches others like it did me. ... show more

  • Great book!!
This is certainly a great book, I have been a professional musician for over 25 years, however I started my theory learning not too long ago. While there are great free courses around, about the subject, there are certainly not many resources on how to apply this directly in your guitar playing, instead of the traditional piano keyboard. I think it is great for aspiring, intermediate and advanced guitarists as an easily available resource for practice and reference. ... show more

I highly recommend this book for every beginner. It is very helpful and easy to follow with step by step instructions This is a must have for every beginner! ... show more

  • Poor.
A poor book. For example, the first chord he has you play is B major -- a difficult chord that is usually barred. When he starts to describer the circle of thirds, the text describes C major but the figure is A major! How could you make this mistake! I stopped when I got this far -- lost all confidence in the author. ... show more

  • Honest review
I did read it though from the pdf you sent me,and my honest review is, it is decent, it’s more geared towards someone who is just picking up a guitar for the first time type of player, which is great but Also only targets that audience. Once someone who actually plays starts to get into it, it slows down drastically. It also starts off a little slow. With that being said there is a ton of great information, you go over the basics pretty well which is great. All in all I give it a 3.7 out of 5. And that’s my honest review brother. It’s great for your first book! ... show more

  • Great for those of us with little knowledge of music theory
Great resource for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of music theory. Most resources that I have tried in the past were to dry or complicated to get through. This book is different and great addition to my collection of guitar resources.
