  • Pretty good
I have used this on my dog's wound. His wound is very bad. It bleeds and the skin will not heal. He has to have surgery soon, but until then I have to keep it clean and wrapped. I have heard many good things about the healing properties of manuka honey, so I decided to give these a try. This is a step up from dressing his wound with regular gauze alone. The wound no longer smells awful. Unfortunately it hasn't healed up, but I didn't expect that. I apply regular gauze over it. I did that with other patches underneath with no benefits. The only negative that I can say about this is that it adheres to the wound badly. You should be aware of that, but not consider it a reason not to try this. This is still better than any other that I have tried. ... show more

  • Special Honey
Honey contains hydrogen peroxide so any of it acts as an anti-bacterial. The sugar, like table salt, also adversely affects the cellular structure of the same microorganism so I expected that this would work well as a wound dressing. However, this is made from a Manuka honey that many think has significant healing powers beyond random kinds of honey. I did some research on Manuka a few months ago finding many testaments to its effectiveness both externally and internally. There is also a range of Manukas including a certification process which may simply be a sort of branding guild. Each patch is honey saturated gauze with a plastic coatings on both sides. To use, cut to size and then lay the side with the plastic removed down on the wound. Use any sort of medically appropriate tape to hold in place. The instructions advise removing the patch every 1-3 days to see progress. We used it to bandage some mesquite thorn wounds my wife sustained while doing wildlife work. She said it was soothing when applied. So far the wound is healing well and without any sign of infection. I think this a good idea no matter if Manuka is a wonder honey or just honey. I think it’d be particularly soothing on burns. ... show more

  • Put This Naturally Derived Honey Gauze for Wounds in Your First-aid Kit
The media could not be loaded. It looks like Manuka honey is the new trend in the health-care world. Since, I am allergic to Neosporin, I am very careful when using ointments for minor cuts. This honey gauze could be the solution. It is naturally derived honey. When opening the pack, I was expecting tightly woven gauze with gooey honey goop on it. It looks more like a net dipped in some honey, so there are a lot of open areas that I think might not get the honey on it. I can't tell if that is good or bad, but I think it is to make it more bbreathable. Sticks well on the skin because it's honey. My cut was already a day old, so I can't necessarily say it's healing miraculously with this gauze. You can't predict when you're going to get a burn or a cut, but it will be well worth keeping this in your First-aid kit for that matter. ... show more

  • Wonderful gauze patch
I love all of the benefits of honey and bee products that I wanted to give this a try. Just recently my son had a bad scar on his knee from falling off of his bike that kept reopening from bending his knee after the wound scab dried out. This honey gauze patch did a wonderful job of keeping his wound hydrated while providing the anti microbial benefits of the honey. After a few days of use, his wound was healed enough that he could remove all bandages. This is such a great product to keep on hand for any wound or burn injury. ... show more

  • Nature is amazing.. these work!
I haven't had multiple simultaneous wounds to test this on side by side, but anecdotally this definitely helped the healing process. If you've ever picked up a duck that didn't want to be picked up, you know what their talons are like. This helped heal up a solid talon slash on my arm quickly. I can't say for sure that other antibiotic ointments etc would work better or worse, but this is certainly a solid option using the magic of nature and they can conveniently be kept in a hiking pack or first aid kit. ... show more

  • So much better than regular gauze!
I didn’t know what to expect when I got this, but I love it! Essentially, it’s exactly what you would imagine… Gauze coated with honey, and there’s a lot of it in there, and it smells really good; very high-quality. But this is where this product really shines… It’s sticky, but in a good way. It stays put when you place it on your skin, but at the same time it’s easy to peel off when you need to change it, and doesn’t stick to the wound. Almost like a Post-it note. It makes it so much easier to change and re-bandage, not to mention all of the great anti-biotic properties of honey. I had a cyst and a lipoma removed a few days ago, and it has been the perfect thing to place over my stitches. From now on, I will always have a supply of this in my medicine cabinet. They’re expensive, but totally worth it. Very much recommended! ... show more

  • Good burn and wound dressing
This is a good burn and wound dressing. I used it recently on a big burn that I had on my ankle (a misadventure stirring gravy). The dressing helped to keep the burned area moist and allowed the skin to heal more quickly while keeping infection at bay. Of course this is just a dressing and requires something to hold it in place such as a plain gauze wrap or surgical tape, but the dressing is a nice thing to have next to a burn or wound burn. Yes, I would recommend this. ... show more

  • A must have in your medical supplies
I haven't seen these for so long that I had forgotten about them. Honey for wound care is one of those natural remedies that most of us have forgotten about and it is far more beneficial than the petroleum based products. The patches are so convenient for use since you can cut them to fit the size of the wound and already have it covered, whereas if you're using honey in general, it can get pretty messy! Fortunately I have not had anything happen to need them, and I don't plan on it, so no review of it's effectiveness will be included. ... show more
