Purchased five of these. One for each one of my granddaughters. They will receive them for Christmas and I'm sure that they will enjoy them. The sound is soothing and they are fun to play with. But, surprisingly, they also provide an additional benefit. We lost my father earlier this year and since then my mother has been very depressed and broken hearted. She used to play the piano years ago so I decided that perhaps one of these would kind of take her mind off of the sadness of the past summer even for just a few minutes. She loves it! She finds it soothing, calming and she enjoys trying to play old tunes she once knew. I’ve had a ton of fun learning to play this instrument. I’ve been a pianist for many years, so I may have a bit of an advantage with learning to play this instrument, but I think it’s pretty easy to pick up! My only complaint is the top couple notes sound a bit muted. But I’ve heard that just happens by chance with Kalimbas sometimes. Great kit, comes with everything you need. ... show more

Product is as described. Item was received in a timely manner. I have already enjoyed learning to play songs on the Kalimba. I am very happy with the purchase.” In just a couple of days, have already mastered several songs and I am going to teach my granddaughter some songs as well.     • GROW YOUR THUMB NAILS! Necessary to play it right :)
I am not talking some kind of monstrous nails but you really need some length in your thumbnails. You may want to research this. I got it as a gift for someone and they struggled a bit at first not knowing that you need to have some nails to play it. It makes beautiful sounds and this particular is really cute sounding one. It is good start before moving to the Chinese pan drum which they also sale on amazon. If you look up Pipa Language, Peaceful Chinese Music on Tank Drum /Steel Tongue Drum- April Yang Cover they sell this thing that drum on amazon and this sound is really amazing. The same musician has a video playing on this instrument sold here too. Well worth the time. ... show more
