Just made my first batch! I sat down and read the instructions front to back before setting up but it is basically plug in, dump water and then you're off to the races! (You have to remove some tape but that's it, I wiped the surfaces with a warm wash cloth) I used to work at sonic as a teen and I love their ice! I wanted to get sonic ice again instead of my regular ice tray cubes. I've seen people talk about how the ice melts fast but that's basic science...The bigger the surface area the slower the melt. That's why bourbon on the rocks drinkers like those big blocks of ice, it chills the drink with a slow melt. Obviously these are pellets, they're going to melt faster than even an average ice cube. I use multiple different drinking cups to go like a Mana Hydration Tumbler or my Camelback Eddy water bottle. This is perfect to load them to the brim and go! I used to have to make cubes 12 at a time over the course of several hours so this is a life saver for me. Love love love it! ... show more

Overall I think the product does what it says...with footnotes. 1. The picture shows a full bulging view of ice. -this doesn't happen because the machine is not a refrigerator. The ice will melt off if you leave it sit I the tray. 2. This is more of a "luxury" where you have no other option. The question you need to ask yourself is should I buy this to make ice at home while it runs up your electric bill? Or, buy 10-20 ice cube trays and use the power you already use for the fridge. Also, the most important thing is density of ice. Ice cubes in a fridge are high density. These are not. I took a can of cold cola and put 6-9 ice cubes from first tray that took 6-10 minutes. They melted in 2 minutes after hitting the cold soda. I then doubled the amount- a little better but melted off in 4 -5 minutes. So if that soda 12oz can was not already cold, or if I was pouring room temperature whiskey, or a bacardi/coke mix, not pre-fridge. Then that ice would have melted in 1-2 minutes. The reason, ice is hollow, less dense then making ice cubes I a tray yet alone fridge ice maker. Summary I used this once for an hour. I found it easy to use but I really do not like that I am burning more electric to produce what I can already make and at a higher density in the freezer. Return or not return.... For $80.00 it wasn't expensive but I am one person. What if I had 5 friends making ice for? I don't see the ice production working. Not a price issue, it's a production expectation issue. Love this ice maker. Our ice maker to our fridge broke and makes ice super slow. This ice maker is It’s easy to use and no hassle. It is fast at making ice. We also used it for a party for guest to scoop up ice before filling up their cups on mix drinks and we got so many compliments on our ice maker. We even convinced some of them into purchasing one. One con is when the ice fills you might need to push it down or move the ice out the way so more ice can be made. ... show more

Admittedly, I have low expectations on things like this. However this thing works pretty well. I am having issues with the built in ice maker in my fridge. This is cheaper than calling out a repairman. I think I'm eventually going to get rid of the current fridge anyway, so why spend on it? My only real issues with this device is the noise and the fact that I wish it kept it's interior a bit colder. The output is good for me. If you are dealing with large groups this might not cut it. ... show more

I read reviews before buying. People complaining it doesn't keep ice frozen. It never said it was a freeze. The ice is a little small but good. I use it to fill small container in freezer. My freezer is high efficiency so doesn't freeze fast. This gives good amount in an hour. Enough for good glass of ice in 10 to 15 minutes ... show more

I bought this for long term camping to help keep ice in my cooler. at a cup of ice every 6 minutes I have enough ice for my small yeti cooler and plenty for my ice water. As long as I have enough water to refill the ice maker I have ice. I love it.

Makes ice fast, but has a ridiculous drain. Plug and placement are actually stupid. But I need an ice maker as I don't have the strength to twist ice cube trays anylonger. Filled my ice bin in the fridge and they all stuck together in an unbreakable blob. Still, better than ice trays.
