Description

The Jr. Tyette tap shoe from Capezio features a thick, low heel, a soft microfiber linings, and a padded collar for extra comfort and support. A grosgrain ribbon ties on the center front, and a rubber sole patch helps to steady your every move. Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

  • A disappointment
Size: 8 Wide Color: Black Patent
I wear a 7 1/2 regular, sometimes a wide in some brands, but most wides are too large for me. I've worn Capezio dance shoes my whole life, and decided to return to tap as an adult. I ordered an 8 wide, based on reviews--and it's so incredibly narrow, I can't even have them on for 2 minutes. So narrow. These are either a mistake, or Capezio is all in on the usual "make women think everything about them is too big" game. An 8 1/2 would be too long, the length is not the issue. These babies are NARROW and made that way. So returning, I'll try some Blochs now. ... show more

  • High quality at a great price
Size: 10 Wide Color: Black Patent
Only needed for use in 3 shows plus rehearsals for a play, so i went with the cheapest i could find in a 10 wide. Definitely better quality than i expected.. nice soft plush interior, solid construction and most importantly very comfortable.

  • Order a Size Up
Size: 5 Color: Black Patent
I bought these for my 9 year old. She wears a size 4 in shoes. I ordered a size 4 and they were way too small. I reordered a size 5 and they seem to fit fine. She has not had a tap class yet, but she says that they feel good on her feet. Before we ordered these, we ordered a cheaper brand, but they seemed cheaply made, so I returned them right away. I would rather pay a few more dollars for quality - but know that you should probably order the next size up. ... show more
