  • Multi port works well
Size: Ethernet Splitter 1 to 3
My new router has only 2 ports, so this solved my problems. I was dumb at first & didnt realize it needed to be plugged into power. (I've never needed to in the past) All in all a good product, works well.

  • Tight form-factor, minimalist, quality build
Size: Ethernet Splitter 1 to 3
This is essentially a 4-port switch, but has a more practical layout for splitting 1 cable into 3. I keep a laptop on my bedside table as a backup Plex server that also backs up 20TB of media files from the main server at the other end of the house. But since I only have one Ethernet connection in that corner, there are times when it is handy to have a second wired connection for other devices. With the fact that I want it to maintain gigabyte speeds, this sleek little device has really come in handy. I have tested it with two devices and have been able to get gigabit speeds on both of them at the same time so it's definitely there, as far as the specs go. It stays pretty cool with an aluminum shell and I love the fact that it can be powered by USB-C. I have a USB-C port replicator connected to the laptop and I have the switch plugged into one of its ports. As with most network devices, it has the typical yellow and green connection LEDs. Because it's at the bedside, I ended up having to cut some black label into small pieces to cover the lights, as shown in the picture. That is a trick I use often to cover bright LEDs. ... show more

  • Don't believe everything you read on reviews.
Size: Ethernet Splitter 1 to 4
First of all, you WILL gain THREE ports if you use this splitter. Yes of course, you will have to use one outgoing Ethernet port on your router to connect it. But, this device has ONE RJ45 input port on one side of it and FOUR RJ45 output ports on the other side. So that is a net add of THREE device ports. Secondly, yes you do need power for this device to work as intended. If you do not use power, you will reduce this device to nothing more than an Ethernet splitter or Ethernet coupler. It will be limited to 100mbps AND you will only be able to use one port at a time. Now that we have that out of the way. let's move on. This is NOT a splitter UNLESS you use it without power. It is a powered Ethernet switch (link, as of April 2025, describes it as a splitter and that is wrong). If you use it correctly, you will be able to use multiple devices AT THE SAME TIME and each will have approximately the same speed and bandwidth capabilities. I already had a 4-port switch running in tandem with my Gateway (router) because I needed more RJ45 ports than my internet Gateway provided. So, there was only one real way to test this switch. I connected it to a power source with the provided cord. I disconnected the input connector from the other switch and connected it to this one. But before I did this, I ran speed tests on two connected Core I7 desktop PC's and one connected Core I7 laptop (I had another older quad core right beside these but the power supply is bad and it is too outdated to worry about). I could have run a much longer Ethernet cord downstairs to yet another Core I7 desktop (connected to a WIFI receiver with an Ethernet output), but that was too much trouble. With my normal configuration, the input and output speeds on the three computers were (A) 919.42mbps, 929.41mbps, (B) 933.87mbps, 930.55bps and (C) 926.21mbps, 940.52mbps. Computer A was the slowest but also had a lot of stuff running on it, including a detailed direct trading platform (with a massive live feed), several security cameras, Outlook, and three open web browser windows. Computer C was the laptop. Once I transferred the Ethernet cables from each computer to this Dockteck switch, I ran the tests again. This time the results are as follows. Computer (A) 911.79mbps, 931.13mbps Computer (B) 934.23mbps, 931.47mbps Computer (C) 926.21mbps, 940.52mbps. All first numbers for each are download speeds and the second numbers are upload speeds. All tests were performed with the other computers drawing bandwidth. This device performs as advertised. So why four stars instead of five? Here is the deal. This device requires power to operate correctly. Included in the box is a power cord with a USB A connector on one end and an USB C connector on the other. It is only three feet long. Six feet would have been much better. Depending on the type of plug that you have, you might need an adapter on one of the ends. It would have been oh so simple to attach a dongle to one end with either a USB C to USB A adapter or a USB A to USB C adapter, depending on which end it was attached to. And it appears to me that you will need a wall block with at least a 30 watt output to power it. The mice-type instructions only mention 5V input. I tried an older block that outputs 5V and it would not power this switch. I tried a newer one that also outputs 30 watts on each connection and it worked. I do NOT like being shipped something that does NOT include everything that I need to properly connect it and make it work. And the included power cord is too short. That limits flexibility. ... show more

  • It works in a nice small metal package
Size: Ethernet Splitter 1 to 3
All ports are functioning well though I cannot test the maximum speed. Typical speeds for me with or without it are around 400mbps. The switch does not have impact on speed that I can see. I like that it is in a metal box that is best for cooling if needed and durability. I never felt it even get warm. I also like the small package perfect for running to a location for multiple desktops and printer without home runs for each. Instead of trying to go through the hassle of adding cat5/6 cable to a location where you already have one, great solution to give you 3! Nice solution and good value. ... show more

  • Ethernet Switch/3 way splitter
Size: Ethernet Splitter 1 to 3
Very compact and well built. Have this for travel and work. Without power, it functions like a splitter; when plugged in, it essentially acts as a switch. The unit itself feels like high-quality construction with a minimalist approach. When plugged in, I get roughly the same speed in each outlet. Can't tell you how many times this has come in handy. • Excellent build and performance.
Size: Ethernet Splitter 1 to 3
I ordered the Dockteck Ethernet Splitter, a one-in-to-three-out High-Speed Switch for a Gigabit Network. It is a LAN RJ45 Port Router Switch that works with Cat5/5e/6/7/8 Cables and is also POE capable. I tested this splitter in my home. My internet is rated for 1Gbps symmetrical maximum data transfer. As with most ISPs, the maximum speeds are seldom attained in real-world situations for various reasons. It can vary depending on the time of day, the server you download from, and the device you are downloading to. I decided to test this switch by comparing a download speed test when one of my PCs was on a dedicated cable to when it was attached to the switch with both a cable TV and an Xbox using bandwidth attached simultaneously. The PC download test was virtually the same in both situations, around 650 Mbps. This was an excellent outcome for this test, and I am happy with the performance of this one into three switch. It can split up to 1 Gbps into three streams, with little or no speed degradation. The total bandwidth of the split streams cannot be more than the input. I also tested it with just one attached device; it transfers the bandwidth without significant speed loss. It also supports Power Over Ethernet (POE). The literature states that it can split a maximum of 90 watts into 3 x 30-watt outputs. The switch is aluminum-covered and comes with a USB-A to USB-C power cable. The package insert states that it needs 5 Volt - 1 Amp. It is ruggedly built and quite heavy for its size. It is a high-quality device. This product is reasonably priced, and I highly recommend it. ... show more
