We purchased this hatchet for a camping trip after many days of research. Because we cook on our campfire, we needed to prepare a lot of wood every day. This little guy was a real VIP. The price was a little bit higher than we had originally planned to spend (it cost more than our full-size axe), but it was worth it. This hatchet is easy to hold, carry and use. The handle is a very comfortable design, and since the whole thing is one solid piece, it feels incredibly sturdy. It comes with a rugged sheath that can be worn on a belt, perfect for wood-hunting expeditions. We used it to chop small logs, limb downed trees and bust up small branches, to scrape bark and even to drive in our tent stakes. There are plenty of uses for a hatchet like this around a campsite and I have no doubt this one will rise to the challenge. Last of all, it's also an aesthetically beautiful tool. It's absolutely picturesque against a woodsy backdrop and a nice change from a lot of the ugly, brightly-colored, plastic and rubber-handled axes out there. Came with no defects , hatchet came paper cutting sharp , all grinds perfect , beautiful leather handle , this is the same hatchet i had years ago in Boy Scouts . These hatchets are tuff , get the leather Bench Craft sheath for it fits perfectly

It’s sturdy enough to handle small chopping tasks, while still being small and light enough to be strapped to a backpack or tactical vest (yes, I could definitely see this being used as a tactical tool with the addition of some grip tape over the stacked leather handle). ... show more

Love the look, love the feel, love the quality. The 12 inch version of any hatchet is not the best for splitting wood due to the short handle and low weight, but it's a good compromise for situations where you are limited on size or weight like backpacking or in taking in checked luggage. I also have a 14 inch, 8 pound Estwing maul which is a beast for splitting wood and a much better for that purpose, but far too heavy to take backpacking or in luggage. ... show more

Nice tool, as expected. Only gripe: they put 4 (four!) stickers onto that little hatchet. And tough ones at that. Took me a long time with water, soap, alcohol, to try and get them off and at least most of the residue removed. Not great, especially on the leather handle.

I really love the quality of the axe. It’s not only pleasing to look at but very comfortable to hold. I mainly use the axe for Bushcraft and it does a great job at it. I’ve read a few reviews on it along with watching some YouTube videos talking about the polish on the handle, some like it some hate it, I personally like it and feels it adds a solid grip. I’m very pleased with the axe and am ordering another for my lady since she’s taken a custom to using it more than me and forcing me to use another lol. Honestly as long as you take care of this axe and don’t misuse it I am very confident it will last you a few generations. Don’t beat it against a rock, be mindful of what tasks are within the limits of the axe and you will be just fine.
