I used Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation for 20 years and I was shocked to see the drastic change that was made in the formula. Like so many others, I had problems initially with the new formula and I was close to giving up on it when I discovered some simple changes that made it work SO MUCH BETTER! This new formula is not as drying as the old one, but with the old formula you could use almost any moisturizer and sunscreen with no issues. That is not the case with the new formula. The moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, etc. that you put under this foundation must be silicone based and CANNOT contain oil. Once you use oil-free products under this foundation it works well. I just returned from Paris on a 10 1/2 hour flight and the foundation held up well. It looked natural and wore well. I think that 36 hour wear is a bit of a stretch, but I will continue using it as I have tried every other foundation out there and I always come back to Estee Lauder Double Wear. I’ve been using Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation for years, but about a year ago I finally discovered the secret to making it work beautifully on mature skin! I saw a video where makeup artists recommended using Embryolisse Lait-Crème underneath it, and wow—what a difference! Double Wear has incredible staying power and a matte finish, but because my skin can be a little dry, I sometimes found that it would cling to the drier areas and make them more noticeable. Using Lait-Crème underneath completely changed that for me. The foundation goes on so smoothly, doesn’t settle into or emphasize dry areas, and still lasts all day. The result is a beautiful, natural, flawless-looking finish that doesn’t look heavy or overly matte. If you love the staying power of Double Wear but have mature or slightly dry skin, I highly recommend trying this combination. It’s been a game changer for me! ... show more

Absolute greatest foundation I have ever used in my life. I came across this product by chance as I was at the cosmetics department in Macy’s about a decade ago and they were out of my normal foundation (different brand) and the cosmetic woman recommended I try this. I have been wearing foundation for several decades now and I have never worn foundation that has a great amount of coverage but does not look heavy. I love this reformulation! I accidentally ordered a color that is too dark and orange for me, but I've not been drinking my carrot juice to retain the glow I love, so I've reverted to my snow white skin. I'm going to add the rest of my original, pale one to this bottle and I'm sure with powder it'll be perfect. In the meantime, back to carrot juice I go! Either way, I love this foundation. The original, on me anyways, always broke down. I stopped using it until this new formula emerged because it didn't sink into my skin the way I wanted it to. It looked like a mask in some areas, but in others performed beautifully, with or without powder. Now, this formula doesn't even need powder, technically, unless I go outside in the heat and humidity for an extended time. The finish is gorgeous- natural satin on me. I put the foundation on with my foundation brush, then patted it into my skin with a Chinese makeup sponge, dry, then let it set for 5 minutes before adding my cream blush, cream contour, lipstick, and a little setting powder. This foundation sets down into my skin and acts like a tint. It doesn't set on top. It's fabulous, and highly smudge/ transfer resistant. I can hug my husband without staining his shirts, or getting powder all over him! I adore that they've added skincare ingredients to the new version, honestly. Reason being, I love trying to ensure that everything I eat, wear, do, drink, nourishes me. As well, I live in Florida. Putting anything except a strong primer under any foundation will guarantee failure. Beyond that, a lot of people, including professional makeup and skincare experts, don't know the basic fact that putting anything on your face under your foundation automatically runs the explicit risk of sheering out or breaking up your makeup that you put on top. I almost never recommend putting anything between the skin and the liquid and or cream products. This formula is thicker and richer than the first, classic formula. It's a medium coverage that doesn't sink into the lines that I do have, and doesn't make powder bunch up into them. I love that. I think I'm going to go purchase one of their matte lipsticks and lip liners honestly. This is the best foundation I've ever used. I only knocked off a star because of the orange tint. I’ve been using Estée Lauder Double Wear in 2N1 Desert Beige for quite a while now, and I always come back to it. It’s one of the few foundations I’ve found that gives me enough coverage to hide my melasma without looking thick or cakey and lasts my entire 12+ hour nursing shifts. I have a light neutral olive complexion, which can be difficult to match. I’m naturally fair in the winter but tan easily in the summer, and Desert Beige works surprisingly well for me year-round. It doesn’t look too pink or too yellow, and it still looks natural whether I’m pale or have more color. I wear sunscreen every day, and this foundation layers beautifully over it without separating or pilling. It also blends well with the rest of my skincare and makeup products, and I can build the coverage where I need it without it looking heavy. If you have melasma or uneven pigmentation and struggle to find a foundation for a light neutral olive skin tone, this shade has been an excellent match for me. My skin tone is uneven, so coverage is important, but my bigger concern has always been longevity. The nose pads on my glasses rub off every other foundation, so I always had two big naked spots on either side of my nose. Gorgeous. 🙄 Then I found this. At a foundation party, it is the only adult in the room. So much pigment, I don’t even use concealer. And wear?? Crazy. Nose pad bare spots are a thing of the past. When applying, I put some on my hand then pick it up with the brush so it’s evenly distributed on the bristles and this is my hand every night. Still there!! After ten hours. I’m not a surgeon, so I’m not WASHING my hands, but I’m also not an animal. Hands get washed with soap and warm water before eating and after every trip to the bathroom, and it just keeps hanging in there. If you need full coverage and long wear, you have just found your forever foundation, I promise! ... show more
