    • Great magsafe case! Better protection than ESR's Original clear cases

I am new to magsafe cases and am coming off many, many years of using Otterbox Defender cases (all the way back to the earliest iPhones), so drop protection is a big deal for me. In all the years I've put my phones in Defender cases and many ugly drops, I've NEVER had a screen crack (the screen protector may crack, but not the actual screen or phone). I purchased this case and one of ESR's clear Original cases so I could compare them. This case is far superior to ESR's Original model and a bit more like the Defender in design but thinner and with both magsafe and a handy stand! This case also advertises both military grade AND 23 foot drop protection. I've never had a phone drop that far, but I do drop my phones too often so I'd rather have better protection than the clear case would provide. This case offers more edge protection than the Original case and because the back is not clear, it has padding on the back similar to the Defender. The back is thinner than the Defender and this is a one-piece case versus three for the Defender, so we'll see how protective it is over time. It was a far easier installation than the Defender of course, but I will admit that I'm a bit afraid the phone might pop out in a bad fall. We'll see how it works. That said, I did have my screen protector crack last night when I had a car problem on a very dark roadway, but it fell forward onto a rock, so I doubt the Otterbox would have done any better! I do find this case more slippery than the Otterbox and worry about the one-piece construction, so we'll see how it works over time. I will update this review in the coming months. Love the kickstand, though I do wish they had more feminine colors like fuchsia or purple. The case grips solidly onto magsafe chargers and other accessories. Important!! If you do need to use a usb c cord for charging or wired Apple car play for an older car, you MUST get a usb extender with an extra long 10mm USB C portion. Most extenders I tried are too short to fit into this case. The longer ones are sold on Amazon but you need to specify the length in a search. Make sure the portion that holds the USB C part also has a slender profile! You cannot use MagSafe for data transmission so you need a cord that fits this case if you need a wired connection to your car’s display. ... show more

This is super impressive. It does have MagSafe magnets, and it actually looks quite nice; better than the photos let on. The corners visually are a little rough but not bad. The magsafe pattern on the back is actually quite elegant. However, the corner of the case is total garbage. Firstly, the PC shell ducks right out of the way, so there's no shock absorption there. And the rubber readily slides right away from the phone with little pressure, so in an impact it would slide right out of the way and expose the screen and chassis to the full impact. There is an impact-absorbing design in the corner; I think that would work well if the phone were dropped directly onto that and didn't bounce (not super likely). The stand is awesome until you hit 85 degrees; then it stops. That's maybe sufficient but not durable. I'm sure it would break off no problem if I tried. Also, it covers the camera plateau; just the lenses are exposed. So you need to have compatible lens protectors on. ... show more

Case is great! Stand is great! My only complaint is that the camera protection bulge means I cannot get wireless charging to work on a large wireless charger. This is ONLY a problem on large wireless charges. Wireless charging works just fine on my MagSafe wireless charging devices. I love the attached flip cover over the wired charging center port. It is very good and very protective! The MagSafe magnets are also very strong, so if you have any MagSafe accessories, you can snap it on! The installation was very simple, just click it on. This case is awesome! Extremely durable but looks so sleek. I’ve had it for about 4 months now and it still looks brand new and I work construction. I was afraid the kickstand was going to degrade easily and quickly but it still works perfectly and stays closed when you need it to. 100% recommend.
