⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than the Logitech Combo Touch! I don’t usually write reviews, but this case deserves one. I’ve owned the Logitech Combo Touch for my iPad Pro 11”, and while I liked it overall, I always worried about the rubberized edge around the iPad eventually stretching, separating, or wearing out over time. The ESR case solves that problem beautifully. The design feels much more durable, and I no longer have to worry about the protective edge deteriorating. The magnetic connection is strong, the keyboard is responsive, the trackpad works great, and the overall build quality feels premium. What surprised me most is that I actually prefer this case over the Logitech—and I never expected to say that. It protects my iPad exceptionally well, looks fantastic, and functions exactly the way I need it to. If you’re trying to decide between the Logitech Combo Touch and the ESR keyboard case, I highly recommend giving the ESR a serious look. For me, it was the better choice, and I would absolutely buy it again. Buy it & you will NOT regret it!

This review is the for the 13” ESR keyboard case for Ipad pro. I have used the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard on my Ipad pro 11, and I absolutely love it. It’s versatile and lightweight. However, the same model for the 13” Ipad pro is terrible for the simple reason that the trackpad is too large and has no palm rejection. It’s almost unusable. Also, it’s not cheap! This ESR case, while heavier, has several advantages. The independent power on it doesn’t sap your ipad’s battery like the Logitech does (probably the backlight more than anything). It’s super cool that you can just detach it completely and still use it (yay Bluetooth) though I don’t do that very often. The trackpad is much smaller and I don’t hardly ever accidentally click it. I did turn off the “light touch to click” so you have to press firmly on it, which works well and has a satisfying click. Also it has a nice sleeve for your stylus which the Logitech does not. Also you can use it in portrait mode which the Logitech does not have. The main downside is side is its weight, but because the keyboard is much thicker and stiffer you can easily use this on your lap where the Logitech keyboard would be too weeblywobbly. Or just put the ipad on a nearby table and use the keyboard to type remotely! Bluetooth connectivity works excellent and I have zero lag and near instant connection when I turn it on. The battery seems to last a long time, and the Ipad’s little battery widget will see the keyboard and report to you its battery life. If I could change one thing about this I would magically make it even lighter but one must be realistic. If you’re waffling between this and the Logitech combo touch, check this out - it’s a good value for a great product. Or, pick up a used Combo Touch somewhere. Those are absolutely not worth their full price, whereas this ESR definitely is.

It's a well-made and srurdy case that works well, has a fairly decent keyboard, while avoiding Apple's extortionate pricing. The drawback is that it is Bluetooth, not physically connected. This means that there is an extra step of turning on the keyboard as well as additional battery drain and one more thing to charge. I don't blame ESR for this, because I don't think Apple has allowed other case makers to license the physical connection (3 dots) so anyone who wants the benefit of such a connection would have to pay literally THREE TIMES the cose of this one. For drawing, I prefer a case with a kickstand over one held up only by tension, like the magic keyboard is. It can take some pressure when pressing on the screen with a stylus. This makes it somewhat less comfortable and convenient as a "laptop," though it's not unreasonable to use it on your lap, you just won't be able to get as settled as you could with the magic keyboard by, like, crossing your legs and stuff. The case itself, minus the keyboard is pretty heavy. It gives good coverage and protection, but it weighs maybe 60-80% as much as the iPad, itself. When I first got the M4 ipad pro, after having previous versions of the iPad pro, the first thing I noticed was how light and thin it was. I even thought I had been scammed on ebay when the box arrived and was unexpectedly. Putting this case on, made it noticeably, significantly heavier. With this case the M4 ipad pro feels as heavy as my naked 2021 iPad Pro. It's just heavy enough to discourage me from free holding the iPad while drawing, but I am getting used to it. The M4 iPad with no case is about the perfect weight to hold and feel like a sketchbook, but it's so thin and glossy, it feels too delicate and insubstantial to hold as a case. The ESR case makes it feel appropriately substantial to hold, but also just barely too heavy. It's a tough criticism to make because I'm sure a lot of the weight goes to the sturdy hinge and the M4 pro is already so light, it's a challenging comparison for the case. I still think I'd rather hold it with the ESR case than without. The number one thing that takes a star away is how difficult it is to open. It's fiddley and it's worse if you store the pencil on the side of the case and not in its pocket. It just takes too long to open. Sometimes every second counts when you have a spark of inspiration. I'd recommend opening it vertically like a notebook over horizontally like a laptop. As a bonus, there's enough space to store a USB-C to 3.5mm headphoeb adapter in the stylus pocket alongside the stylus.

I’m pleasantly surprised by this case and keyboard especially for the price. It feels like a tiny MacBook 11. The keyboard is lit well and seems to reconnect easily. The iPad part disconnects easily to use it as a regular tablet. When it is time to reattach it to the keyboard/trackpad section the magnets somehow perfectly align. The keyboard and trackpad work well for me even though it is small. The whole case feels very well made. There’s a little sleeve for my pencil. I haven’t had it long enough to talk about battery life but it seems to keep going for long periods. The trackpad is a click keyboard. I haven’t researched whether it can be set up for a single tap like my MacBook track pad. Other regular iPad gestures seem to work. I will update if I have problems.

I previously had the Apple Magic Keyboard on a 13" iPad Air. I couldn't stomach the insane price of the official keyboard for my 13" iPad Pro, so I wanted to give this one a try. The case by itself is great. The keyboard works OK, though the trackpad jumps around and has no palm detection or similar. The problem is the iPad has to support itself with the stand. It can't be used in your lap, and you need 2 hands to move it on a table since the iPad is propped up by its own case. I like the case, but I find myself detaching the keyboard and not using it most often. If the keyboard folded behind the case OR supported the ipad, I would use it much more often.

Not bad given the price of things nowadays. Feature packed, easy to set up and get going. Some reviews say this ESR keyboard case heavy and it can be, but it's lighter than the Apple Magic keyboard knock-offs. I wish the kickstand movement had firmer action so that it stays precisely in place once a desired angle is reached. It’s a little wobbly. I think it would also be helpful if the bottom of the keyboard piece was coated with a rubberized texture too, as the keyboard tends to shift a little bit when typing. I also wish the keyboard could be flipped back and stick to the iPad cover part, say magnetically, similar to the older genuine Apple iPad smart keyboard case, instead of detaching completely.
