This is the nicest potting soil I've ever purchased. It is super rich and dark (also has perlite in it which another brand I have purchased in the past does not.) There are NO horrid gnats and NO having to wear a mask when working with it because there is NO "dust." I LOVE IT. I will be purchasing this brand exclusively in the future. Other brands - especially the kind you find at the big box stores - cannot even come close the quality of this Espoma soil mix. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for!

I find it to be more effective than other brands for growing my plants and vegetables. It is more expensive but I find it’s worth it.

This bag looked different from usual Espoma quality. It contained large pieces of undercomposted wood chips, water was rolling off it ( turf mix?), tons of gnats and even perlite was somehow different- not as round and less .perlite than usually. I had a smaller bag and side by side these are two different products. The smaller bag that I bought from Walmart was great soil, fine textured, soaked water well, had more perlite and had some other small additions that this bag didn’t have. The Walmart version had no gnats. I won’t buy again from this seller. Some of my plants planted in this soil show leaf changes that would be consistent with herbicide damage. I have no tools to check for it. I probably could get better soil from our local transfer station, with as many gnats.

Soil arrives moist, smelled like good soil. BEWARE!!! What I got was a bag of soil FULL OF FUNGUS GNATS. I have spent 2 weeks watching my special seedlings not thrive due to the infestation I planted them in. At $9.00 a seed watching sprouts and seedlings NOT THRIVE due to the gnats was extremely frustrating. Choosing this soil for its features, micros, neutral pH, no chemical fertilizers mixed in may cost me my 2025 grow. Beware!

This is BY FAR the best potting soil I have ever tried. I have now purchased it several times and the bag gets bigger with every purchase. It is not too damp, it is mixed with bits of styrofoam for better aeration, it is not clumpy, there is no mold, no sticks, pebbles or other junk in it. It feels great in your hands and my plants LOVE it! Thanks Espoma!
