First of all, this is the second Escort iX that I've bought in the last month. It is wonderful, a lot better than my Valentine. Other reviewers have written excellent reviews on the features of this unit and I will let them give you their opinions (I agree with them!). The reason for writing this is to warn you---DO NOT fall for the "Frequently Bought Together" bundle that they recommend, or at least DON'T buy the sticky windshield mount. The description of the radar detector is very poor and does not point out the fact that the detector COMES WITH the latest generation sticky mount, and it uses a marvelous magnetic mount that is so much easier to use that the old clip. Further, when I received the mount (which claims it fits all Escorts except the Max series), I discovered that it is the OLD model, using the clip and not the magnetic mount. And as far as I can tell, it DOES NOT FIT THE iX MODEL! I'm very disappointed with Amazon here. Ordinarily when they "bundle" something as "Frequently Bought Together" with an item, you can be assured that the two things are compatible. NOT HERE. Do NOT buy the windshield mount, and I hope Amazon does the right thing and removes this item as an implied accessory for this detector. ... show more

    • dislike the mounting, but love the detector - camera large, but seems to work.
The mount set up is wrong on a few levels... my phone has a camera installed IN IT.. I am happy with this large thief bait, but it is a pain to mount and take down because eventually plugging and unplugging the unit to go to from car to truck will fail. it falls away from camera when dismounted and power cord hangs. I have used another Escort and it died recently... Loved it response and coverage and I am sure this unit will do the same. UPDATE: It has been about 1 week.. finally got the detector and camera to fit and stay. I am a little worried, my old Escort 9500ix used to pick up KA (sheriff and CHP) regularly, but this upgrade has warned ONCE so far.. in a week! The face is nice to look at, but I would really like to know if it is picking up a signal. I disabled X and most of the KA comes not checked... so I checked them all.. if no signal for another week I will call tech support and maybe return and save a few hundred and by another 9500ix which worked flawlessly for years till 110+ dashboard heat finally killed it (at least that is what I think happened). ... show more

Registering the product on their website does not work. If this turns out to be a temporary situation I may rethink the review, but at this point, without registration, the unit isn't worth much. Their website is written in PHP and looks like it was written by a high school student. Submitting the registration screen brings up a white screen with no feedback to the user. Come on! You can afford to pay a real software engineer to write a reliable site for you! Give me a break! ... show more

If you are on a long country road and want to find the Cop behind the billboard miles ahead or creeping behind this is for you. If you use the expressway a lot or drive downtown not so much. I didn't realize how vital it is to know where the signal is coming from. This thing picks up all the signals. If you're going to buy an expensive Radar Detector go with the Valentine. ... show more

I did not like company shipping UNIT without the 1080p camera. Amazon quikly investigated and immediately shipped another one. This is an excellent detector. I have several vehicles, and I would like purchased this one. (without the camera). It has save me from two tickets, I have built a lot of confidence and trust in it. I will purchase this UNIT instead of returning it, at a reduced price. Thank you for you help in this matter. ... show more

This replaced an older Escort unit that was going off every time I passed a newer car with lane detection technology. The old unit false alarmed constantly and became useless. This new unit... Love it. Not only does it not false alarm at every new car I drive by, but it uses GPS and learns where the fixed base speed signs are and locks them out so they no longer alert you. What a waste of money. Consistently in traffic where instant-on isn't a factor, this thing won't detect anything until I'm basically right on top of the source then it pegs at full blast. Other times it doesn't detect anything until I go PAST the source. The companion phone app chews up a TON of battery life and often doesn't connect leaving the detector to bark at me about over speed limit when it can't get the speed limit from the app. I hate this thing and wish I could return it but I threw away the packaging. ... show more

The radar detector works nicely. Love their magnetic mount system, and customizable bands to turn on or off. What I don’t like is the buggy iOS app that keeps setting the over speed limit alert to … “the speed limit”
