Not so easy to hook up. I had to order gas line and connections. I watched a video Or, you can call someone to hook it up. After installation, it works great! Looks good and heats well. Remote works great. Only complaint about operation is, the beep when turning on and off

I had an existing gas line for gas log lighter in my fireplace and this made installation a lot easier. It was a little complicated to figure out a good hook up - pipes/fittings combo, but after setting up it works great. I was able to find a black flexible hose at Lowe's, instead of the yellow one. So now the line doesn't stand out. The remote works great too! There is a gas flowing sound once turned on, but it's not too bad. The heat output is great too! I highly recommend this unit and hopefully it lasts with out any issues. I shall post an update if anything changes in the future. Update: In less than a month and about 10 uses (yes, I did use this fireplace much more than I used wood in 7 years), this stopped working today. I replaced the 4 AA batteries in the receiver unit and it fired up again. I hope it was just a one time thing and I don't have to keep replacing the receiver batteries every month!

Fireplace can’t be ventless as it states. Gives off to many fumes unless flue is open. It’s supposed to be VENTLESS! The receiver and transmitter do not work right either. Don’t buy. Bad communication from seller as well after sending a detailed letter. They want a picture. What is a picture going to do. Supposed to be 30,000 BTU but the flame is very low.

Well, my warranty is voided (if there even is one). Why you ask? The ignition in this log set did not work. Not at all, not even a little. Took it off the set, looked at it, no chance of it ever working as the springs inside the ignition unit were jammed in between the metal button and the side of the unit. Could not get it free... button did not come up high enough within the housing to actually function. I didn't return it though because this wasn't discovered, of course, until the plumber was actually in the process of installing it... I was already in for hundreds with the plumber who came to install it. McGuyver time... hence the voided warranty... took the ignition unit from the old log set that was being replaced and used it on this new set in order to get the whole thing to turn on. I didn't have time nor the inclination to pay the plumber hundreds more to come back because the ignition on this new set was faulty. Works perfectly now. Tested both the auto and manual functions and both work as they should. One other thing I don't really like: The burner tube curves around so that there is a tube running in the front and one in the back. However, on the curve, there is a smallish flame still and it looks strange with tiny flames coming from the side, outside of where the logs are. Makes it look more unrealistic. Overall, happy with the unit once I had to void the warranty by fixing the broken part myself to get it to work. Happy I was replacing an old log set and had the old part handy on it to use.

Everything works good and I'm happy with it. However, there were no instructions that explained that the ignition push button needs to be unscrewed and a battery placed inside for it to work, at least that I could see. Probably expected to be common knowledge but I didn't know! Love the thermostat control which works nicely!
