I tried a different laptop tray first; one that looked more stable due do it lying flat against the VESA plate instead of hanging off in front of it. Unfortunately that first tray simply didn't play well with my articulated monitor arm, as the VESA plate needed to be tilted back so much that the overhang on the back of the tray was contacting the top section of the arm and restricting free positioning/movement of the arm. So I gave this one a try, skipping over all the alternatives that have a similar "vertical VESA plate with tray hanging out in front" design, because this one still bolts securely to all four points of the VESA plate vs. most of the others that only bolt to the top two mounting points. This tray is very sturdy and made very well. It also feels like it's providing a very secure platform for my laptop no matter how I position my articulated monitor arm. So after getting it mounted and giving it a good try, I have no concerns about its longevity or suitability to task. Before getting this delivered I was a little skeptical of the thumbscrews for the VESA mounting and figured I would probably need to substitute proper nuts and bolts. However, the included mounting thumbscrews felt 100% sturdy and secure after initial setup, so I went ahead and stuck with them. One thing that would be nice is if the product photos/description would specify the angle of the bend, for pre-purchase planning. Close as I can measure, the angled platform of this stand is a gentle 23 degree downward slope from horizontal when the back plate is positioned exactly vertically. (I suspect it's actually 22.5 degrees; half of a 45 degree slope.) Which is nice, because I didn't want a more vertical laptop position, and due to my issues with the first tray I tried, I was worried about maybe needing to still tilt this one back enough to perhaps run into more arm impact issues. No such issues here.

I've had a ton of these that were made of multiple parts that loosen and flip flop around. This one is not like the others! It's incredibly stable due to being a solid piece of aluminum. It mounts to the whole VESA plate instead of just one or two bolts. Being able to hover my laptop up off of my bench frees up some soace for more hijinks! As long as your monitor mount can tilt, you can adjust the angle, too. It's as easy as installing any VESA mounted accessory, and does exactly what it needs to. What more could you want!

This is an awesome, easy to install laptop stand that allows my laptop to fly over my desk! I have just one gripe, the holders do not fully secure the laptop, even when tightened down, It sometimes budges left and right when unplugging usbs.

It is pretty heavy which is absolutely a pro and a con. That’s good for monitor mounts with a gas piston setup, because this mount plus my laptop was more than enough to balance, the piston, and when I took it off, the stand was just heavy enough to not fling the arm up. However, this absolutely smothered my laptop since there’s no cut outs for airflow. I had to 3d print some offsets for the feet to get it up off the deck to get some more airflow. With that it’s usable but not out of the box.

I wanted a laptop tray that was black, had space cut out under it for air flow but was also sturdy, and preferably attached to my VESA monitor arm at four points. This is the only one I could find that met all four criteria. The only thing to know is that I have a MacBook Air and it is too thin for the small arms at the bottom to clamp down on my laptop, but there is still no chance of it sliding out of the tray and falling even without this so it’s not a problem at all.
