I went back and forth on a couple printers before buying the XP-8800. I am so happy with this printer. I picked it up this morning, got home and set it up. Initial set up took about 10-15 minutes. I used my phone for the set up. Connecting to my laptop was easy. I purchased this printer mainly to print photos out to use with craft projects. I am more than pleased how the prints come out and I only printed 3 pages. 1 was on regular cheap paper. Then the other two were on ultra premium glossy paper. And WOW. bright, vibrant, clear prints. The only thing I am concerned about is the ink cartridges are pretty small. So not sure how many prints I will be getting with them, but I knew about the sizes when I bought the printer. Replacements arent too expensive like others are, and theres 6 colors. I dont usually leave reviews, so if you have reached this part of the review and you are looking for an affordable printer to print photos on. This is the one.     • A good dependable printer
So far, so good. Had trouble in the beginning, the power cord was wrapped up tightly and taped to the BOTTOM of one of the Styrofoam packing pieces. Yes, the bottom. How clever. I returned the first one because it seemingly had no cord. I guess none of the Epson boys realize that the Styrofoam packing pieces are usually ignored entirely before they're finally thrown away. I mean, why would you look on the bottom of the Styrofoam pieces...for ANYTHING??? Oh well, live and learn. Yes, I returned it only to get another one, also with no cord. By this time, I realized that something really weird was going on, so I examined the packing stuff, inch by inch and found the cord. (Did I say it was ON THE BOTTOM ? Of the Styrofoam packing?) Anyway, it seems to print fine. However, another warning: The printing commands show up in the little screen on the printer, that's where the "real" commands are. Commands from your computer are ignored, so don't print stuff the way you're used to doing. Just pay attention to that little screen on the front of the printer. So far I have to say, it works!! It's amazing to me, every time I want something to print out and it actually prints!! (100% better than my last HP did, which almost never printed - except when you shut it down for five minutes each time and started all over again). A good buy for the money. ... show more

    • nightmare mare to install, directions are terrible
well the first one came used with ink installed and paper inside would not work, tried so many places to get help, so I got another could not ger it hooked to my phone or computer, finally gave up spent 80 dollars for the GEEK SQUAD to go into my computer remotely to get it to work Still upset with Amazon for sending me a used one or the Epson , prints great after weeks and a cost to help install ... show more

Love this printer for printing photos! Scanning black and white documents is so-so, but I didn't buy it for documents, I bought it to print pictures, and it excels at that! Fast, crisp color, and perfect detail. You will need to adjust your color settings depending on the image, but it's easy to do. Setting it up to print wirelessly from my iPhone & my laptop were easy, too. Highly recommend this quiet little printer for photos. ... show more

An excellent printer with wonderful clarity. I use this printer for making what I would call office copies in black and white. I have not used this printer for photos since I use top of the line Epson Photo Printers for photo prints. I am impressed with how long the ink cartridges last and how quickly it prints. Needed something to dedicate to printing photos and this fit the bill. Great price thru Amazon. Instructions for set up was easy thru the QR code. As far as speed of printing pictures , it does pretty well , other photo printers I've had were slower. Ink cartridges are also available thru Amazon at a reasonable price. ... show more

    • Don't buy Epson products
Doesn't work out of the box. Setting up and it only prints blank pages. The company assistance link on Amazon is worthless. I called an alternate number I found using Google and went through over an hour of "trouble shooting" for an obvious hardware issue. The provided me a ticket number and sent an email. The email instructed me that I had to do a deep head cleaning and wait twelve hours then do four print head cleanings. Still blank paper. Email instructed to call a number given and enter the ticket number provided in the email. I dud four times and the recording said it is s not valid and I couldn't get to a live person. I had to start over and call the number I called the previous day and they tried to have me start troubleshooting from the beginning again. After another half hour they gave me a new ticket number and said I have to take several pictures of the printer serial number, ink and receipt. The email never came and I'm starting from scratch a third time. I unfortunately had ink in my Cannon printer so didn't even open this Epson for five months until the ink ran out so I cannot return it to Amazon. I forgot why u despise Epson and switched to Cannon over twenty years ago. Epson is a horrible company. ... show more
