Description

The AJ-220S has a unique bell-like shape, a larger lower bout, and a small round upperbout which gives this new addition to our Advanced Jumbo family of guitars a unique voice. And the AJ-220S is made with Epiphone’s century’s worth of experience in crafting world-class guitars that are meant to be played. Acoustic guitar players know it’s difficult to find an instrument that has both a deep bass tone and crisp loud projection. On a small stage with an acoustic band and little amplification, a good acoustic guitar should be able be heard and anchor a band. The AJ220S’s strong and balanced tone will make other acoustic players who have spent much more on their guitars wish they had gone to Epiphone instead. Like all our Epiphone acoustics, the AJ220S is legendary for being easy to set up and for staying in tune so no matter how much playing time you have, it's ready to go.

  • This J-45 sounds like a $2,000.00 guitar!
The J-45 has a reputation for professional acoustic sound quality at a low price. You can't go wrong with this guitar. Besides the wonderful sound, it is easy to play, and good looking too.

  • beautifully designed and great sound.
I've been playing guitar on hand me down guitars for the last 16 years, and finally I decided to purchase my own, I chose a steel string acoustic (as I had been playing on nylon acoustics.) the feel is good, the action is smooth(I didn't sand it down or anything) right out of the box the guitar needs some tuning but will play just right after a quick tune. I recommend you buy a set of guitar strings and a case when you buy this guitar. I bought the epiphone case for 89$ and it keeps my new baby safe and sound. I bought this in March and haven't had to change out the strings. ... show more

  • Money spent on what counts.
I wanted a reasonably priced guitar to have something to play that I was not too worried about and ended up falling in love with the tonal quality and craftsmanship. An amazing instrument for the price.

  • Solid Sitka spruce top, quite playable
I bought the guitar directly from the Epiphone web site around 2020 - customer service at Gibson (this is a Gibson brand) was very responsive. The guitar is made in Indonesia at the plant where most acoustic guitars in the world are made (Cort?). Quality was very good - set up was quite playable on delivery. It's not as deep as my AJ-500ME NS, so it does not project like the Masterbilt, but it is playable, and can certainly play at volume if strummed vigorously. It has a longer scale length than the standard Gibson, so has a slightly brighter sound than the AJ45/DR500. Overall, a high quality and relatively inexpensive guitar that is both playable and also not something you are going to need to worry about. No regrets in purchasing it - excellent value. ... show more

This was the choice for my first Acoustic guitar so I didn't want to spend too much but still wanted quality and value. Plus exceptional sound which is what I got. Very happy.

  • Do not buy this guitar!!!
I decided to buy this guitar, Epiphone AJ-220S Acoustic Guitar, Vintage Sunburst in spite of the bad reviews. Big mistake! The neck is so warped that the strings lay flat on the neck and of course, it's totally unplayable. I adjusted the truss rod and even put a shim under the bridge to raise the strings but they still rub the frets from the 8th fret up. Also, the ends of the frets stick out on both sides of the neck and are sharp enough to cut skin. This guitar came from Music123 and apparently if you take it out of the box and try to play it you void the warranty. I contacted Epiphone as there seems to be a lack of quality control in this case but have yet to hear from them. Sincerely, Samuel Anderson (DOG TOY) ... show more
