Added this to an off-road teardrop camper with a couple 100 watt panels mounted on the roof. Could have used the 20 amp version, but opted to upgrade to the 30 amp version to give me the flexibility to add more panel later if needed. Used this waterproof version so I could mount the controller outside near the battery pack, and keep all the power wiring (solar panels, battery feed and load circuit), outside of the camper. I also upgraded to a LiFePO4 battery for more capacity and charge/discharge cycles. Unit build is robust, with heavy gauge wiring for the inputs and outputs, and a well built weather sealed aluminum chassis and heat sink. It has all kinds of idiot proof safeguards, which I have not, and will not test! It is nice to know if Murphy decides to visit my battery or wiring, the unit will protect itself! Note: The MT52 remote panel does not have a dedicated LIFePO4 setting. It does have a ‘user’ setting so you can modify all the charge control parameters to those required for that battery type. The manual gives you the correct values to change, but it would be nice if that was a preset setting like the sealed, gel and flooded battery types that are native to the controller. Other than that minor issue, the ensemble works well. I haven’t tested it over a long term camping excursion yet, but leaving the camper parked in the yard (about 5 to 6 hours of direct sun per day, while filtered/shaded the rest), with a couple fans circulating and venting the camper 24/7, (granted not a big load, maybe 40 watts total), the battery has remained fully charged. So far, every time I look at the MT52 display, the battery shows full, with no draw on the solar panels. Maybe the load is too small? have a separate voltmeter on the battery, and it shows 13.7 volts by day, and 13.4 volts overnight by morning. So far, so good. I will update this review after I do a longer term off-grid excursion.

I received the product relatively quickly but found that the wrong connection cable for the control unit was sent. I am using this with a lithium battery so the default charge settings are not appropriate, changing those settings with the control unit is necessary. After contacting the seller and getting a reasonably fast response (one to two days delay) I was promised the correct cable. After several more messages, and weeks of waiting, there’s still no cable so the unit is worthless to me. I am still within the return period for the product, thankfully, but wanted to save others this hassle. UPDATE: received the correct cable, the unit works flawlessly. The setup for lithium is a bit clunky, but seems to work fine.
