The Banneton Proofing Basket Set of 2 is everything I needed to make my sourdough bread! The baskets are beautiful and well made. The set comes with two banneton baskets: a 9-inch round and a 10-inch oval. This gives you options for different loaf shapes, which is a nice touch. Both baskets are made with natural rattan and come with linen liners that help prevent sticking. My doughs rise beautifully in these baskets – nice and even, with a gorgeous texture. The kit also includes a dough whisk, bread lame, dough scraper, parchment paper, and even an empude cloth. The whisk makes mixing the starter dough a breeze, and the lame allows you to score the top of your loaf for that signature sourdough look. Having just started making sourdough, I appreciate having items that will help with the process all in one set. The coarse cotton jar covers are very easy to wash and rinse by hand in the sink and can be used on the jar tops while still a little damp if necessary. The steel bench scraper is so good for cleaning off a doughy countertop, but I have also found it to be very useful for scraping out burnt-on food in a frying pan before washing. And I have never used bannetons (bread rising baskets) before, but they seem to work fine.

I'm really impressed with the quality of this proofing basket set! It's beautiful, well-made, and looks like it will stand up to the rigors of making loaf after loaf of delicious sourdough bread. I've been wanting to make sourdough for years, but I've always procrastinated in starting it. Now, I have this great proofing basket set that I can show off to friends. It has a nice place on my shelf so I can look over at it and think, "I really should start my sourdough culture." but I still haven't started yet. I'm sure I will any day now.

I make artisan sourdough bread on a regular basis, and bought this kit to make more loaves at a time and get a few extra tools that I didn’t have. I was quite impressed with the quality of everything inside of the kit. It also comes with basic instructions for preparing the banneton (something sourdough kits usually lack for some reason), which is ideal if you were thinking about giving this as a gift to a newbie. Because of this and the quality of the bannetons (and everything else), I think this set is perfect for new and experienced bread bakers!

While I really only needed the bannetons, I saw this kit and decided to order it, as the baskets themselves were nearly as expensive as this lovely set. The rattan baskets are very well constructed with no warping, gaps or splinters you can sometimes get in less well-made baskets. The liners are linen material which fit well and are machine washable. The additional accessories that were included (bench scraper, lamé, blade cover and parchment paper) were a welcome bonus! This set is great for the new sourdough baker and would make a fabulous gift if you know someone starting on their sourdough baking journey! I am extremely pleased with this set.

I feel like I've upgraded to Julia Child gourmet level with this set. The tools are well made and hefty, the baskets are solid rattan, which is pretty tough stuff, and the instructions for bread making and designs are a bonus. I'm new at this and have tried the silicone baskets. They're fine, but this tool set really takes things to another level. I thought a knife, large fork and spatula was sufficient. I also thought my glass bowls would be fine. But as my father taught me long ago - get the right tools for the job - and these are great tools!
