I am very impressed with this cook top. My previous expensive, glass GE cook top exploded and I did not want to spend a huge amount of money as I am planning to redo the kitchen in the next few years so I decided to try out this Empava as the price was right, it had Italian burners and had safety features. I am now planning to keep this when we change up the kitchen. The stainless steel is so easy to clean and looks nice. The grates have weight and are good quality. The Italian burners work fantastically once you master holding down the controls for a few seconds after it lights, otherwise the safety feature kicks on and the burner goes out. Once you light the burners a few times it becomes the norm. All the burners work great. Lots of room on this cook top and I can put multiple 8-10 quart pots on it at the same time. Water boils at the speed of light. Everything cooks quickly and that is probably my only criticism. If I need to simmer something I often move it to the simmer burner as the other burners just don't go low enough for a really gentle, low simmer. But, even that is not really a negative as usually I want things to boil, to saute quickly. I would recommend this cook top to anyone looking for a good quality Italian burner stove. Great product, easy to install. The cook top look fabulous, and even after cleaning looks as good as new. This is very easy to clean, the grates come off, and nothing spills below the cook surface YAY. The sealed burners are easy to determine where you should be cooking, and after many meals, I am understanding which burner does what. I think that was the biggest adjustment with this stove. Was easy to get installed. Had to use a connect from my old top as the fittings for the new one did not connect to the gas line. But we have been using it all week and cooks great. Also very easy to clean.

    • Take Care Modifying for Propane

When using the included nozzels to convert for use with propane gas, the burners cannot be turned down enough to simmer, when following the instructins. I originally gave this cooktop one star, because of that, but have now realized that, instead of turning the knob farther, as the instructions say, you can carefully turn it toward the Off position, and get the flame as small as you like.. Another challenge is that the nozzel in the largest burner would not come out, even though I bought a new, high quality, Craftsman 7 mm box end wrench to unscrew it, the corners just rounded off, and it stayed in place. Since then, I've found a 6 point wrench that probably would have worked if used to begin with. The Craftsman box wrench was a 12 point design, which isn't as reliable as 6 point. The nozzels in the other four burners can be removed with a socket, and I luckily used a 6 point socket for them. Conclusion: if you order this for use with propane, make sure you have a 7 mm, 6 point box end wrench for the large burner, and a 7 mm, 6 point socket for the other four burners. It's easy to find the 6 point socket, but I didn't find the 6 point box wrench until too late. I suggest this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OAVWD96/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Finally, the instructions to convert the included pressure control valve, for use with propane, were nearly useless. To convert it, unscrew the round cover in the center of one side, then unscrew the little plastic stud in the center of the cover, and scew it back on with the opposite end toward the cover. The disk near the end of the plastic stud will now contact the spring in the body of the valve, when the cover is re-installed. Other than these problems, this stovetop seems to be great, and was much easier to install than removing the old Amana stovetop it replaced. We decided to keep it, and can now get some use out of the large burner, by using High Temperaturer JBWeld to install a tiny piece of tubing in the center of the original natural gas nozzel. It now puts out a little more heat than the next-to-largest burner, because the installed tube is a bit too small. ... show more

We re-did our kitchen including our countertops and backsplash and decided to toss the old white cooktop with its melted knobs. The price was great on this Empava and we loved the idea of heavy-duty cast iron burner plates. It arrived quickly and fit in our cut-out easily. The plumber hooked it up to the gas and we were cooking! So lovely to look at and it modernized our 1980's house immediately. Would recommend this cooktop to everyone! Love it!! ... show more
