    • DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
While this unit did a GREAT job at first, it didn't even last 6 months. That timeframe was beyond Amazon's coverage and, despite it's 1 year manufacturer warranty, Emerson appears to have gone out of business and there is -0- customer support to be had or even found. I've been calling and leaving messages since late November ... nothing! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! ... show more

I did a lot of research on the air conditioners as this is the first one I have ever purchased. I live in Southern New England and the summers tend to be hot and muggy at a certain point of the year. I live in a small cottage, roughly 500 square feet, and I needed something that would moderately cool down the entire place. This works just fine.     • It's Nice & Cold - But A Sluggish Thermostat Response
This air conditioner blows out blessedly cold air. And it is as quiet as I hoped it would be. But the thermostat is a problem. You set it to a given temperature & it doesn't seem to know when to come back on again, & when to go off. I keep having to wait for an off cycle & then manually turn the unit off & turn it back on again. Then it resets itself for another couple hours. "Set it & forget it" leaves me with a house that is way too warm, especially in Eco mode. Another issue with this AC is the obscurely designed remote. It's not user intuitive & you find yourself just using the main controls because it's easier. The remote is useless to me because I have to aim it directly at the AC for it to work, otherwise the remote & AC are not on the same page together. It's so much easier just to use the main controls. Some reviewers complained about the bright blue display obscuring the buttons in a dark room. If you take your left hand & cup it over the digital display - it will divert enough light to the controls to operate them in a dark room with your right hand. It cools well when it cools, but resetting it several times a day to get it to come back on again to reach the desired room temperature when it's hot in the house gets old. It came packaged in a flimsy box that fell apart during shipping & returning it would be an incredible hassle. So they lost 1 Star. ... show more

    • Worth every penny
Worth every penny. We have a very open floor plan on our main floor with cathedral ceilings in the living room and we couldn’t keep it even barely tolerable with our 8000 btu portable unit (granted it’s like 5 years old and wasn’t top of the line even back then, but it wasn’t cutting it). We installed the Emerson, set it really low and let it run overnight to see what it would do. Our entire floor is SO much cooler and drier (it’s humid here too) and then the living room where it’s installed is cold enough we have blankets on while it’s 84 degrees with 70% humidity outside. The living room is about 375 sq ft with cathedral ceilings and the whole downstairs is a little over 1200 sq ft. It’s been WONDERFUL!! We’ll see if it can keep this up, but we’re very happy so far!! ... show more

    • Really worth the money !
I have been impressed by the sheer fact it's operating flawlessly and hasn't had an AC unit to run smooth and semi quite on high and it has a cold output that I haven't felt since they changed from R12 refrigerant! it works well just using eco setting, Highly Recommend it
