Description

Prolong your tone with the same acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set. Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Premium by design, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a crisp, bright tone with an expressive, vibrant presence. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel. For a slicker, gentler feel, try the original POLYWEB Coating on our 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Strings, which also feature a more robust and rounded tone. For more of a balance between bold and bright, our Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity alongside the same traditional feel as these 80/20 bronze strings. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page. Frequently asked questions

Elixir Acoustic Guitar Strings (Custom Light, .011-.052) are world-renowned for their superb, long-lasting tone and playability. They're coated with NANOWEB Technology, a patented process that actually coats the entire string - not just the wrap wire - offering a smooth feel and prolonged string life.

These particular Elixir Strings are made from 80/20 Bronze, which is 80% copper and 20% zinc. This combination produces a bright, expressive tone often preferred by acoustic guitarists.

The NANOWEB Coating on the Elixir Strings facilitates an extended lifespan for the strings. It shields the strings from sweat, dirt, oil, and other contaminants, which contributes to the strings' longevity. Besides, it provides a smooth, natural feel reducing finger squeak and enhancing playability.

Custom Light (.011-.052) refers to the gauge of the Elixir Strings. The gauge is the string diameter, and it significantly affects the playability and tone of the guitar. Custom light strings are great for players who value ease of bending and minimal finger fatigue, without sacrificing too much tone and volume.

  • Quality strings, light gauge for acoustic, bronze wound steel with phosphor coating
Style: Ex. Light (.010-.047) Size: 1-Pack
Second time i have purchased these. They are not the least/most expensive but around $15. I did find a 3x pack for $30 but were a slightly different configuration. I bought the 10/47 gauge as they are solid base and nice bright upper end and fairly light (without creating a buzz) and the guitar takes a tune well with them. They feel smooth to the fingers and do not make excessive noise when fretting or moving chords around the neck as other less expensive strings have. Good product IMO. ... show more

  • Nice! Deep and bright sound
Style: Ex. Light (.010-.047) Size: 1-Pack
Put them on my Yamaha FS 800. Boy, what a difference. I like the sound and sustain of non-coated strings but without the fret noise. These give you the best of both worlds. Little or no string noise and wonderful sustain with nice clarity. Well worth the price. Will definitely be buying these in the future. I used 10-47s. Try them and you won't be disappointed. ... show more

This strings are the standard of the industry. I always choose Elixir for the quality and the durability that they offer so you don’t have to change strings as often. Also the tone is amazing, there is nothing like play and record with a new set of elixir strings.

  • Too much of a good thing?
Style: Light (.012-.053) Size: 1-Pack
These strings really made me question what I wanted in a guitar string. Going into these strings, I've played on various brands, including Ernie Balls, and always loved the pop and sparkle of new strings. I'd heard that Elixir essentially provides just that, but for longer. A win-win, right? I pulled these bad boys out pf the package and threw them on my Yamaha FG-435, my trusty acoustic. Sure enough, they were bright. Oh, god, were they bright. Compared to my old, dead strings, which sounded musty, and well, dead, these strings sounded like pots and pans being thrown down a flight of stairs, or my drummer hitting his china crash cymbal. So much sustain! So many harmonics! Such detailed tone! I felt overwhelmed by too much of a good thing. A month or so down the line, these strings have definitely mellowed out a bit. They retain a lot of that sparkle and snap that I'd usually associate with new strings, and have lost much of the abrasive, overbearing qualities that they had fresh out of the nitrogen purged plastic packaging. While they certainly aren't subtle, I would no longer call them brash, and I've come around to enjoying playing them quite a bit. The plasticy exterior feels great, so they're fun to bend and slide on. I'd certainly gig on these strings. I came into this purchase expecting the best strings I've ever owned, and in some ways, I got what I wished for. They're bright, retain many of the qualities of fresh strings for much longer than their non-coated brethren, and feel nice under my fingers. In other ways, I really did not enjoy the sound fresh out of the box, and the strings lack some of the subtle low tone of other strings. I certainly feel like I got my money's worth (I've got about two months on these string, and would guess I could get around six more at least), but I'm not ready to call these strings God's gift to acoustics. My next pair of strings will probably be uncoated, but it's certainly possibly that I will return to coated strings and Elixirs in the future. If you want a string that feels and sounds fresh and bright for much longer than traditional strings, than this is it. But, be careful what you wish for. ... show more

  • Better than the strings that were on it new…
Style: 8-String Baritone (.016-.070) Size: 1-Pack
I have used Elixir strings before. They always have a great feel and last a good long time. However, in my experience they have sounded great on some guitars and not so much on others. For example if your guitar has an inherently darker tone, (say an acoustic with mahogany back and sides) Elixer will brighten the tone up just a little bit to give a more full tone. But if you have some that is already bright Elixirs will, in my experience, push that brightness over the top. Between the enhanced silence and screechy high end it can be unbeatable. Now, in this case, I purchased a set for my 8-string baritone Guild. There are a few 8-string baris out there. Taylor, Guild, Ibanez, Alvarez, etc.. I can only speak about my experience with my Guild, which has been surprisingly very, very good. I had initially anticipated that the strings would be overly shimmery and too thin-toned for a baritone, but the opposite was true. These elixir strings actually really opened up the bottom end AND brightened the high B string enough to let it sing. The original strings really emphasized the octave A and D strings, these Elixirs are much better balanced. Now with 8-string baritone acoustics I have found that Elixir makes a set, D’Addario makes a set, and anything else would have to be a custom set made string by string, at least as far as i have been able to find. In my opinion, this Elixir set is the best option of them all. One caveat though is that they are sort of expensive but there are more strings, they are longer, and they are coated. So it all adds up on the end. ... show more
