  • A Very Pleasant Experience Compared To My Old Saturn.
Color: Saturn 4 Ultra
I was skeptical at first when I was researching this printer but i must say I'm pleasantly surprised. If you are new to resin printing or want a simple and easy to understand printer, this one is good for you. I got this as an upgrade from my Saturn as getting parts for the older printer was a pain. Pros: - Un-boxed, added resin and printed first try. Minimal setup. - Fast Print times, at least 2x as fast as a my Saturn and 3x as fast as my Mars - Decent print size - The Build plate's etched surface makes removing prints a breeze - Had no real problems with Zeroing the plate. (I don't trust auto-zeros, so I verified.) - Maintained Temperatures very nicely (I live in a desert though so take that with some salt) - Time-lapse made it easy to go back and see where and how my print failed. - Worked very well with default values of Elegoo and Anycubic resins, very little fuss setting them up. - Build Plate was very easy to remove and place back in place. Cons - All my FEP wear out at around 30-40k pulls despite the claim of making it to 60k - Camera is low quality, grainy and will suffer significantly from light glare. - Failure detection never worked for me. - When finished printing, the build plate raises only slightly making removal of the build a tad tight unless manually raised first. - No built in light, makes any time lapses after hours just black. - Takes up a larger work bench area due to the tilt top feature. - No Handle on Tilt Top. - Resin splashes a little and causes spots on the lid and area around resin tray/tank while printing. - The tilting resin tray/tank adds an extra layer of concern during cleaning. Do Not Let Resin Drip Down There. Not sure this is a con as much as a personal gripe, but I would of liked it much better if Elegoo did something better than the drip bib that comes with it. It does indeed catch the resin drips, but its flimsy and seems like an after thought. For an item that is essential to protecting the mechanisms of the printer during printer clean up and print removal, you'd think they could have given in more thought or at least sold cheap replacements for when the one that comes with it eventually gets damaged. TLDR: Good Printer For Medium Size Prints. Very Easy To Use. Follow Instructions. Expect To Replace FEP Sooner Than Advertised. Keep Clean. ... show more

  • S4 series is game changer and this new model just makes it that much better!
Color: Saturn 4 Ultra 16K
Wow. I considered cancelling this order multiple times while I waiting in line for mine to ship. I'm glad I didn't. I had seen reviews for folks having issues with uneven bed plates that they could only fix by major sanding. I, luckily, didn't have this issue. In fact, when it arrived, instead of printing the little rook test print or calibration print, etc, I threw caution to the wind and printed a full plate. I did NOT do a manual level. This thing is supposed to do it automatically. I didn't even change the default resin setting in Chitubox. Came out perfect (used Sunlu ABS-like Water washable grey, which I love). Every print since then has been perfect as well. I've printed three full plates with small to medium size pieces and one full plate with a large multi-part item that was hollowed. I know that's not a lot of prints, but it certainly gives me a warm-fuzzy that I got one of the good ones. Now that I jinxed myself, let's see what my next print looks like! Now onto a more detailed review: Pros: - Tilt/release is a game changer and I'm pretty sure is the reason I've had 0 failed prints. - Love the flip cover. - I like knowing the vat heater is there if I need it. I'm in Texas, so won't need it as much as others. - Prints fast. - Camera, with light, is awesome. I had a little camera inside my Saturn 3 that worked pretty well, but focus length is optimized with the S4U16K built in one so not as fuzzy with items close to the camera. - Timelapse is cool. Customers love to see their prints "born"! - Can send prints through Wi-Fi, yea! No more USB stick issues to deal with. Cons: - Smaller X/Y/Z than my Saturn 3, but not by a whole lot, but smaller is not better! The same or bigger would have been nice on a new model. Seem to be going backwards here. - No handle on the flip cover. - Expensive. -16k, not much of a pro, coming from my 12k S3. Not sure I can tell the difference. - More of a pain to clean the build plate when changing colors since it's a double decker. - Wish they would have included (or made an optional) resin feeding system. - Network monitoring is nice, but wish it had an app and cloud support, like Bambu Labs, so could monitor over the internet. Can be done, but most people don't have the technical ability to make it happen (I do). I've heard rumors that they are working on it. Fingers crossed! - I haven't had any failed prints yet, so can't speak to the AI monitoring for failures, but reviews I've read say it isn't very good. Time will tell and it will likely improve with firmware updates. - I'm worried about resin getting into the machine if the PFA rips with the tilt mechanism. Hopefully they have shielded items inside as much as possible, to keep the loss to cleanup time instead of dollars for parts. - I've heard it is a major tear down to change the LCD. I bought the extended warranty, so hopefully that will be someone else's problem. What I'd like in the Saturn 5: - Resin feed system. - Back to the same build volume size as Saturn 3 or even a little bigger. - I've seen a new printer from a different company that has a build plate that makes releasing prints much easier. - Cover handle. - More modular build so parts can be replaced easier. - Multi-color (Just kidding, but maybe someday, sigh...) ... show more

  • Elegoo's Best Printer, so far!
Color: Saturn 4 Ultra 16K
I've been an Elegoo fan for years, ever since I bought my Mars 2 Pro several years ago. I just purchased the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K, and it easily is the best 3D-printer that I have ever owned. The ease of use and all of the Quality of Life improvements they have added to this model are incredible. I can monitor my prints on my PC, including a video camera of the live printing progress. They even have an app that syncs with the printer, so I can check the print status from anywhere on my phone. It has both auto-leveling and manual leveling options, but surprisingly I haven't had a single problem just letting the machine level itself. That is significantly less complicated than having to level everything through the tedious and frustrating process that I had to do with previous printers. Also, because it is the resin vat that moves / tilts for the printing, there are significantly fewer settings you have to worry about. I just can sit back and let the printer do its thing. I saw a mix of good and bad reviews when I researched this printer ahead of time. More good than bad, but the few bad ones gave me some causes for concern. I figured I would try it for myself, and honestly I couldn't be happier with it. My current impression is that the negative reviews were either nitpicking or a bad combination of settings and resin type. With the settings dialed in, it is printing faster and with better quality than any other printer I've used. Top scores all around from me! ... show more
