To start, this is my first laser engraver. I've never seen one in person till I purchased this and wasnt too sure what to expect. That being said I do have a mechanical/cnc background. I went with the 10w laser and it arrived very well packaged. Everything included was in pristine condition. I was able to assemble it in under 40 minutes. I like how the Phecda has a more finished look to it. It isn't just extruded aluminum. I decided to use the Lightburn software and I had installed it before the laser arrived. I set up in my garage on top of my table saw for now just because it's a flat surface that won't burn. After plugging the usb cable into my laptop & turning the laser on it connected almost instantly. Was able to jog the laser around to test it. Then I found a project and downloaded the file off of Etsy. I did some speed power tests on the 5.2mm plywood I had. I wound up going with 300mm/min with 90% power and 2 passes. Once I got a good cut I set up the pattern in Lightburn and pressed start. Was able to get the first few layers cut the same evening it arrived. I'm really impressed with the fine detail the Phecda is capable of. I can't wait to try some different materials like leather & acrylic. As soon as the roller attachment becomes available I will definitely be picking that up as well. OK so I put this together in about 45 minutes. Went together exactly as it should have. when you get to installing the feet us a magnet pen to drop the screw through the bottom, this was and the only thing I had somewhat of a small issue. Right now I'm just using the app on my phone to practice, this my very first engraver. The precision and detail are spot on accurate. I couldn't believe the detail this engraver was putting out. I bought the 10W model with air assist and honeycomb platform. I was really pleased with the quality of the build, the smooth tracking, and ease of use. The value cannot be beat!!! We are in the process of purchasing Lightburn, my nephew uses Lightburn in a Glowforge in school and says the program is easy to use and is willing to give me a quick . I cannot wait to get more out this engraver ... show more

Although instructions for assembly are a little vague there are very good online tutorials that show you how to setup, use, and maintain your laser. Yes it does look like it is broken when you get it but that is on purpose. Assembly was actually very ease. I went straight to using Lightburn and am so glad I did. I have been engraving for two years. I happened upon this laser and ordered it and I will say although it may be said it's for beginners, I find the laser nor trying to set the software up in Lightburn easy if you have not used either of them before. After following Elegoo's instructions when hitting the home button in GRBL, the laser moves to the top left and won't stop. It just keeps grinding the belt away as it can't move anymore until you shut it off. I find this disheartening as to why they could have not made a software that knows where the limits are on the machine without having to manually try and set it up every time you turn it on. So, when I import a picture into grbl and hit frame, the thing loses its mind. I have worked with this laser for a couple weeks and I find it very unfriendly and hard to use. It was fairly easy to put together and I had high hopes when it comes to engraving but that's not the case for me. I have spent hours trying to get the Phecda to do what I want with no success. Why can't the makers of the software have their own software that controls the laser and knows what its limits are and stops before it goes beyond it. I find this laser very frustrating after using mine and while I am probably going to spend more time with it, I at this point would not recommend this for a new user that has to constantly tinker with settings to try and get it to work. If Elegoo wants to continue to sell this, I think there needs to be very detail instructions on how to setup the laser in Lightburn after installing GRBL because I don't have hours to spend trying to figure out settings when the creators of this product could have done this work for you so users could have an enjoyable experience. Grbl doesn't cut it for me and isn't much of an app and for more complex stuff that has multiple layers, I found I have to bust the layers up and import and cut them one at a time on the version I was told to download. My my other laser, I can easily separate them in the software and print what I want. On my Glowforge I do have to adjust it a little to get what I want but it homes properly and doesn't go beyond its limits. It also worked right out of the box. I realize the laser is just getting off the ground, but I find the documentation that comes with it is very minimal, doesn't go into a lot of detail and lacks the information that users really need to know to hit the ground running with it. If you want to sell this to the masses online, you are going to have to spend the time to put detailed instructions on how to set it up in Lightburn so it works right off the bat. New users are not going to want to spend hours upon hours trying to figure out how to make it work. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I probably would of loved the laser but can't use it cables on the right side is not attached and cable for the laser head is not attached so I'm very up set I have to take it apart and return it it sickens me I was so looking forward to using it!!!!! It's not fair I have to wait 30 days after they receive this laser for me to get a refund!!! Then another 7 days for the bank to process it!! WTF?? They sent instructions but they were so vague it was impossible to figure out!!! I'm so disappointed in this company!!! 😞 I would not recommend buying unless you are good at figuring the belts on your own I should of read the reviews more closely!!! ... show more
