We bought this and after just a few uses, it started to give erratic readings, making us wonder if our fence had problems. Pretty quickly, we realized it was this unit and then the probe wire broke off. In examining the wire it was obvious that they used the cheapest wire possible to hold the probe and the length of the wire was ridiculously short. I took the unit apart, removing the old cheap wire (I unsoldered the connection to the motherboard) and replaced it with a real probe wire from an old electric tester. It was amazing the difference between this cheap wire and the old one I replaced it with - this multi-stranded wire had just a few strands - no wonder it broke right away. I also extended the problem wire while I was at it. It's now 6 ft long and can reach all the fence wires and it should last a long time. I saw no way to make a warranty claim, so I just fixed it myself. It's still not perfect, but it generally works now.

This tester has an easy to read display and it’s simple to use. It replaced an old brand that had hard to read lights. The tester is reasonably priced. The only downside is the short wire on the ground probe. We have a wire at the 4 foot mark and I’m not able to test the voltage there. In all fairness I can test the lower wires to determine voltage but it would be helpful for troubleshooting to be able to check the top wire. I would buy this product again.

The ground wire fell out of the ground rod. When I opened up the plastic holding the rod, I could see that a soldered connection hadn't been done properly. I was able to fix it.
