Description

EK-Loop Hard Tube is solid type extruded acrylic tubing intended for use with EK-HD push-in adapters and EK-HDC series compression fittings. The tubing may be heat treated to achieve certain bends. For expert users only! It is mandatory to chamfer the edges of freshly cut tube in order to prevent gasket (O-ring) damage. EK recommends a 0.5mm x 45 degree chamfer. Technical data: - Material: Extruded acrylic - Inner diameter: 10 mm - Outer diameter: 12 mm - Length: 500 mm (19.5") For easier installation we recommend wetting the gasket (O-ring) using drops of water prior to installing solid tube. This hose rules. Seriously. PRO: -made of a material that will not degrade from watercooling conditions. Doesn't mind the heat, the ozone, the coolant, etc. -firm-yet-flexible. You can bend it pretty tightly, without kinking it. You'd never manage to cut it on accident. -almost zero labeling down the side of the hose. While this makes identifying it harder, it's also a lot prettier in a finished build. -Nice matte-black finish. Reminds me of the hoses used in the automotive industry. -No plasticizers, so you don't need to worry about accumulating that white-grey grossness inside your loop. CON: -Use a hose cutter for this stuff. Don't try to cut it with a knife. -Very stiff to slip over a fitting. Very stiff to compress using fittings. I suggest you use the EK-ACF fittings to match this stuff. ... show more

I've been using the EKWB Duraclear tubing for 3.5 years. I replaced it once in between since I had a completely new build and had to make entirely new cuts. It is not always easy to find the 12/16 size, I mistakenly got myself stuck on this size since it would be a bit of an investment to replace all 10 of my fittings. Regardless, it's available and let's me continue putting off that replacement. The tubing is very easy to work with. It holds its circumference well, so as you make bends it's not crimping. I always use it with EK clear fluids, and EK blocks, pump, and radiators. My fittings are a combination of EK (for the compression fittings and some elbows) and bitspower (for additional extensions, elbows, drain, etc..). No aluminum. With these quality parts, I haven't experienced any breakdown of the tubing. There's no evidence of plasticizers in the loop, and no etching of the tube. They will get SLIGHTLY cloudy after more than a year of usage, but that happens with any soft tubing. Even in my case, it's barely noticeable. Generally water cooling enthusiasts consider tubing to be a consumable (need to replace) part, if they even use soft tubing anymore. So, if you have that mindset, that cloudiness factor isn't even a big deal. Overall, it's my goto tubing. It has never let me down. I have been building water cooling loops for computers before it was a commercialized option. Currently, my own system doesn't even use radiator(s) and instead uses active water chillers. From the moment I first tried this tubing I could tell just by the feel of it that it was radically different from other soft tubing I had used in the past. I was amazed at how flexible it was - very resistant to kinking - and yet it is very strong. Not sure why this specific tubing is so different from other tubing that seems to be made out of the same material but I suspect it must be from the manufacturing process. I'm currently water-cooling my pc ATM. The tube seals and passed the pressure test, but the 3/8-5/8" fittings i ordered don't screw/ tighten easily and definitely don't screw down all the way. Though the OD is thick enough that when i tightened the fittings down, I couldn't pull the tube off with a substantial amount of force, so I felt comfortable running it in my setup. ... show more

Ok so first thought. Damn these tubes are thick. And its going to be totally freaking awesome to see these things in action in my enormous enthoo 719 case. Im still currently waiting to be able to afford the ek gpu waterblock. Then i will give another long term review. But yeah.
