  • Does Its Job Well
I used this coil of Ehul electric fencing to enclose a pen filled with some particularly recalcitrant pigs who had a habit of unlatching the gate and escaping into the pasture, where I had to chase them down and herd them back in, a time-wasting and exhausting experience. One thing about pigs is, they're not smart but very clever. So I ran this electric fencing across the fence posts, even having enough left over to do the gate, too. I plugged it into the receiver(s) and went into the house to watch what happened once I left. I'm still chuckling as I write this. You should have seen the inherent comedy of stupid pigs trying to nudge an electric fence with their snouts, getting shocked, then dashing away, squealing, to the other side of the pen, kicking up dirt and mud as they do. In short order, all the hogs ended up massing in the middle of the pen, staying far away from the fence (and gate), looking appropriately chastised. The mischievous behavior is now gone, and I suspect won't be coming back for a long time, if ever. I have some pretty docile swine these days. Highly, highly recommended to anyone needing to build a good, workable electric fence. Quality materials, great electricity flow. A winner for sure. ... show more

  • Very Tough and Well Insulated Wire
This Ehul Steel Core Direct Burial Electric Fence Feed Wire is just what I needed in several locations. I am running two electric fence chargers. The first is for a small enclosure which is using a solar power charger to protect some plants and a bird feeder from marauding deer and also to dissuade bears from sniffing around too much. They quickly learn that there is a price to be paid long before they get to any reward that might encourage them to ignore this. The charger is mounted out from under the shade, so the solar can keep it charged. This line is run from the charger to the fence terminus. The second place is from a central high-power charger within my cabin to electrified wires bordering and crisscrossing my windows and door, as well as charging a single wire fence surrounding key points of the cabin. This is a bear deterrent. They have a very nasty habit of ripping out my screens and even tearing at my siding. This wire is very stiff and has very hard durable insulation. I do not think rats will particularly enjoy gnawing on it, and certainly will enjoy it less of the manage to get to the core. The core is steel and will not easily be damaged by weed eaters, etc. on the run up the fence posts. When I say stiff, I do mean stiff. You will need plyers to wrap this wire. This is perfect for my application. The 20kv rating will accommodate my Red Sizzle charger which runs at 10kv. The price is reasonable, especially when compared to what you will likely pay locally for lesser quality wire. It easily gets five stars. ... show more

  • Good double insulation for burying or to avoid RF interference
I use a LOT of electric fences in my work. Much of it involves poly wire, but sometimes I need to transit to another location (either buried or tacked under a deck or building) and you don't want the fence hot in those locations for obvious reasons. This wire is solid core, and has a double-insulation that is rated for burying. But the nice thing is even when using insulated braided wire, there is often a voltage 'bleed' that will cost you some volts in your project.. or worse, if the insulation breaks down when paired with your ground lead, you can have a ground short that renders your installation dead in the water. These double-insulated wires avoid all that, with no voltage bleed, so no chance of a possible insulation failure that leads to a ground fault. I do prefer a heavier gauge though... ideally, 12.5 gauge is the best for maintaining full power in your lead-out, but that stuff is insanely difficult to work with if you need to contour under a deck or something. I'd prefer 14 gauge, but this 16 gauge will certainly do the trick and is the easiest to bend to your needs. ... show more

  • Works as expected
We got this Ehul Electric Fence 50 feet Length 16 Gauge Double Insulated Lead Out Wire Steel Core Underground Hard Cable to run an additional line from our solar charger to the garden electric fence. It carries the current as expected, and does the job.

  • It works as advertised
It's Sunday afternoon and I just finished setting up an electric fence to keep dogs, coyotes, and other 4 legged predators away from my chickens. This product was given to me as part of the Amazon Vines program in return for an honest and fair review. 50 ft. is a lot of wire. I only needed about 1/2 of what was sent. I guess I'll save the rest in case I need to use it somewhere else some day... Having said that, here are the things I like about it. 1. It is sturdy, 16 gauge wire, so it carries the current well. 2. it is insulated with two very thick layers of plastic (maybe some sort of pvc?) insulation, making it perfect for running along the ground, or burying. I did both, running some along the surface from the ground terminal of my charger, near my back door, and a foot or so underground to bypass a 12 ft. gate that I don't want to have to hassle with electric fence to go through when I need to. 3. It is easy to use. All I needed was my fencing tool and a pocket knife to cut and strip the wire. I don't have any negative comments to share. This was perfect for the application. ... show more
