This saved our couch arm! We fell in love with our neighbors cat, and he comes by frequently. He had a bad habit of scratching the arm as soon as he came in and right before he wanted to be let out. At first he didn’t take to it, but once I saw him sit on it, I demonstrated scratching and it’s like he understood 😂. He started scratching and now loves it and leaves our couch arm alone. It’s exactly the right size for what was needed. My husband wasn’t thrilled with the assembly instructions or the way the pieces didn’t fit exactly. It looks like design changes were made without updating the instructions to match. That’s always a sore point for those of us with a QA background, and the reason for taking off a star. Why did you pick this product vs others?: I was originally worried that getting a scratching post would tip over so since there was a connection to the floor i was basically relieved of that worry. Functionality: My cat will sit on the post and scratch it. So i would say very versatile. Appearance: I mean it looks like a capital L not much to say and it comes with a small ball in which i might of messed up while putting together since it cannot stay inside so just be careful with that. :3 ... show more

Our cats took to this scratcher immediately. It was barely put together when they started using it, no catnip enticing needed. They use it all the time as both a scratcher and a bed. The ball intrigued them, maybe even infuriated them, at first but now they just give it an occasional tap. Lining up the pieces to put it together was tricky but not impossible, it definitely takes some patience though and extra hands help. My cats absolutely love this. It’s a little smaller than I expected, but that’s my own fault for not reading it. It was super easy to put together, and looks nice. My cats are all big boys and this has no problem holding them and staying sturdy and upright when they claw on it or lay on it.
