I would say 4.5 stars. The queen 12 inch mattress does expand to 12 inching with time. The day I received was a little late in the day, so I waited till the next morning to strip the bed and clean all the sheets. I want to see if the new had any strange odor. After removing and putting old mattress to the side I brought the box in to the bedroom. You might need some extra hands, the shipping label has 82 lbs, I weighted it at 80. Be careful not to cut the inner plastic while opening. Otherwise it could spring open on you. The mattress is rolled up in 3 wraps of plastic and the final sealed bag, actually doing the compression. The outer wrapping can be removed by unrolling on box spring or bed frame. The label indicates box spring not needed. I like the higher bed from ground so I kept box spring. After outer wrapping removed. Your left with the mattress in sealed bag easly positioned. Position to your liking, at first it looks way smaller than a queen mattress. Now the fun part. Carefully open the sealed mattress. It will slowly start to expand depending on the opening. Let it expand for abou10 to 15 minutes. Cim back and remove ret of plastic. At this point you could actually lay on it ant test. Remember it no fully expanded that takes upto 6 to 7 hrs. But at this time you can actually feel how firm this mattress is. So I would categorize this as a firm mattress. My old was more on the medium-firm. I also have a 3 inch mattress topper that's in perfect condition. The support of my old mattress was showing it's age. Now for the half to full start off depending on you liking. Just after inflation 10 or 20 minutes an laying n it i could kinda feel the springs pressing on me. After the 6 hrs and allowing the topper plenty of time to inflate it seemed thin to me. Like 1 to 1.5 inch too thin related to the topper. The inner springs are amazing. This has absolutely no strange odor. Nothing, not even when pressed my face in to it. At 180 to 190 lbs sitting on the edge of bed the springs do there job and don't collapse that bad at the edges. Some of the bed in box will almost go flat on the edges when you sit on edges, this one does a great job of resting. Leaping on to bed it has some good rebound like I said it's definitely in the firm category. But laying down it doesn't appear to have hot spots but the topper is thinner than expected. So I decided to place my cooling topper back on. The firmness of this mattress combined with my topper is perfect for me. All my old sheets fit an even the protective covering. So if your in a similar circumstance, I would suggest the 14 inch instead. Or go 12 and try a topper for a custom mattress. After 3 nights no weird odor no pain and great sleep. The 12 inch is definitely priced way better than the brick and mortar stores and with Amazon its brought to your door great choice. Plenty of savings to try a topper also.

Holy smokes, I'm really impressed with this mattress! I didn't realize such a nice mattress with coils could come vacuumed packed in a box, but they sure can! I will start off by saying, this mattress is HEAVY, which is a good indication of its quality, but be prepared to have someone strong bring it into the house for you and set it up, because it's close to a hundred pounds. The mattress really is a hybrid between foam and having springs, which gives it a nice medium firmness, making it feel more like a real solid mattress instead of just an all-foam mattress. The pillow top on the mattress is soft and adds great comfort to it as well. The mattress is plenty supportive too. My almost 300lb husband finds it very comfortable and didn't have a problem with sinking in on it. The handles on the sides of the mattress are a great addition and help with moving it. The overall quality and craftsmanship really shines on this mattress, I'm truly blown away at how nice and very comfortable it is.

This mattress provides a great medium firm feel and I am finally sleeping through the night without my partner constantly waking me up. The mix of pocket coils and memory foam really absorbs movement. My partner can toss and turn and I barely feel it on my side of the bed. It makes a huge difference for me. As a side sleeper I feel well supported without any weird pressure points and the mattress stays cool. This mattress is very heavy so you will want a second person to help move it. The side handles are a nice touch for getting it into place. When we unboxed it I was relieved there were no weird smells and it expanded quickly. This one is definitely on the firmer side of medium firm.

Absolutely love my new mattress. packaging is easy and not difficult at all simply unbox cut away some tape and watch it unfold. The mattress has a good depth about 12 inches. It has a nice firmness definitely allow 24 to 72 hours to properly reach its proper dimensions. I found very comfortable sleep. Definitely open up a window and let it air out for the most part there is no smell however I tend to be more on the sensitive side and I did find a weird smell but not a bad smell. I feel like that is pretty common with this type of packaging. Overall, I will say good quality mattress. The dimensions were accurate and I definitely have gotten better sleep . I absolutely love it and definitely recommend.
