Our family loses umbrellas, so I buy these regularly when discounted. The open mechanism is fine. Closing is a bit of a pain in general. We find that we need to use two hands to bring it into the compact closed position. It can stick a bit, which gets us wet; it is difficult for our youngest child. It's OK in wind. It usually flips out and then comes back without issue, but the umbrella isn't super sturdy. We try to be careful using it in wind. Says windproof on the description, that was a lie. A LIE I TELL YOU. Good for traveling, blocking out the sun on hot days, but it won't stand against a gust of wind.
