  • Perfect except for closing it
My son loves this toy. He always watched when we're using tools around the house, and the ease-of-use of the screwdriver this comes with makes him really happy. The bits are easy to interchange for him, and with all the colors, patterns are fun to make. The one thing that frustrates me is that the closure for the toolkit (the part that holds the sides together when you on the go) falls off all the time. It's not permanently attached, so every time my son opens the toolbox to get the screws out, the latch falls off, and he needs help to put it back on. Not a dealbreaker, because just holding that handles together keeps it closed, but that latch is now currently behind the couch... ... show more

  • Entertaining toy
Bought this when my son was almost 2 and he loved it then and still loves it now. I now have another two year old who also enjoys it very entertaining to them. Just make sure if they are still in the putting things in their mouth stage to watch them carefully because these are small parts. My kids are now out of that stage thankfully just thought I would add that in case anyone buys this for a you get child they will enjoy it but watch them if not wait till they are a bit older. Overall great toy. ... show more

  • Patterns Add Increased Educational Value with an Already Fun Toy!
Grandson, currently aged 3.5, had a good time playing with the Design and Drill. After an initial session where he practiced screwing and unscrewing the various colored screws into the base, and learning how to use the "reverse" (unscrew) on the the cordless drill, he was able to complete a couple of the patterns shown in the booklet with some assistance. It is definitely a toy with educational value and helps children learn to use a smaller grid pattern, and learn how to translate the pattern to recreate the designs shown in the booklet. While making the various designs, our grandson had to count the holes on the pattern and work to find the same position on the larger board. And while our grandson is only 3.5, and remained very engaged throughout the pattern creation process counting and recounting grid spaces to ensure he had the correct position. I can clearly see how this toy could easily be used in an educational setting for children up to age 8 or 9. Owen also enjoyed experimenting the the 3 "drill tips" included in the set, and can quickly distinguish between a flat tip, cross tip, and socket. A skill that is sure to thrill his G-Pop. ... show more

  • Fun toddler toy!
My son loves this. It’s the right size to take along and play with elsewhere too. Helps with fine motor skills, too! Beware- you may end up with the little screws all over your house! But, a small price to pay for a fun toy.

  • Good toy for kids.
I have to give three stars instead of five because I got three of these and on every single one, the latch broke off. I keep them in my house so for me it's ok, but the point is that they can carry it around and take it places and they can't really do that with no latch. The other issue is that the screws and screwdriver are very difficult to get back in once you open the bags. I put the screws into a plastic jar to make it easier. I like the toy and the kids play with it often but the case is a bummer and you need the case for the screws to go into. ... show more

  • Great to improve hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills
The quality control issues, mentioned in other reviews, must have been fixed. I have not experienced any of the issues mentioned and we've had the toy for several months. This toy was recommended by my 2-year-old son's preschool teacher as a great way to improve hand/eye coordination. It has done that, and many people comment that my son's fine motor skills seem advanced for his age. He loves using the three different drill bits and even pretending to drill the couch, with no drill bit in place. The drill has a switch to drill forward or backward. The one way this toy could be improved is to make it possible to close the drill into the case for storage, even when the screws are all screwed in on both sides of the case. It is not possible if any of the screws are in the area that would be above the drill (a large area), while it lies inside the case in its designated area. ... show more

  • Solid building / tool using toy
This is a great toy that lets kids interact with the “drill” / screws. My only issue is that the driver bits (bolt driver, Phillips head, flat head) each work for EVERY screw so kids aren’t forced to try different ones out.

  • The bolts come in fun colors and the drill is so fun for kids
My daughter is loving her new design and drill! The bolts come in fun colors and the drill is so fun for kids. My 3 yr old caught on to the operation of it all super quickly. My only hangups could be considered a little silly. There are 64 holes and only 60 bolts. Seems like 4 more bolts wouldnt have been a huge deal, haha. Also, and more importantly, it folds and is self contained but the drill wont fit in the box unless 24 of the screws are unscrewed and put back in the box. My daughter sometimes gets upset that i have to take apart her "masterpiece" in order to put the toy away. Just little inconveniences but overall a great toy!!! ... show more
