  • Keeps Son Sooooooo Busy
My 3 year old is obsessed with this toy. The drill works great for screwing and unscrewing and so does the socket option. The fact that it lights up is just mind blowing awesomeness for him. There are close to 80 screws that the child can pick to screw into the box, which has rows (8 by 8). It's not like the old school light brite with paper patterns. Instead, it has an instruction book that shows you patterns. It's a bit too hard for my three year old, but would be good for a slightly older child. My 3 year old can do the screw and socket himself, switch out the drill bit and socket, and manipulate the screws. He loves to pick the colors (orange, pink, black, blue, yellow and green). We keep everything in the original box. I'd love if it came in a tool box, but no such luck. Overall, this toy is awesome and I will give it as a gift to friends. ... show more

  • Another amazing product from Education Insights
Lamad Homeschooling: Another amazing product from Education Insights. We used this product with a 6,5, and 2 year old. The item is made of high quality plastic. The drill seems very durable and holds up well. We have used this product many times and it his with stood use. We love the glowing feature on this specific design and drill. What we really enjoyed about this product was the many uses and the multiple ages that you can use it with. Many would think this would be specific to boys aged 4-6. However, we have been able to find so many uses with this products. With my 2 year old we use the screws to identify and sort colors. With my pre-k 5 year old son we used this item to create patterns and master his fine motor skills. With my school age 6 year old we use this as you would a lite bright and create actual pictures with the screws. It can be very difficult to find toys to keep children engaged but this will do the job. Our children played with this for a solid hour on many occasions. One fun thing we like to do is add this to a light table. It really adds to the glow effect. We love that our children are learning while playing at the same time. Educational Insights created another cost effective product that keeps children engaged and learning. ... show more

  • Great fun!
This is a great toy by Educational Insights. The company, itself is a great brand that makes high quality toys which make learning fun and all of the items I have bought from the brand have been a hit with my nephew, who is now 6. The design and drill toy is almost like a "Light Bright," that I played with as a child, and comes with a box that lights up from the back and illuminates clear, plastic "screws" that are brightly colored. Teaches fine motor skills along with patterns and is really appealing to children who love tools and working with their hands. The drill has an attachment like a socket wrench. When the drill is put in reverse, the screws can be taken out and rearranged. Very entertaining and fun. This is a toy that gets played with often, even after a year of use. We keep coming back to it! ... show more

  • Fun, but some things could be better
This toy is fun and holds my daughters attention which is my biggest measure of a toy's value. It does help develop hand eye coordination as it challenges children to use the drill and to place and screw in the bolts. The only downsides are that the bag it comes with is not resealable as some of the design and drill kits do and the drill has a stiff trigger which requires the strength of both hands for my daughter to operate. The pictures in the guide are also very small compared to other kits that have guides that are life size and easier for children to orient and solve. Overall, I do like this toy and would buy again, but while the light up board is a cute addition, some of the other kits available have the basic components better executed. ... show more

  • Christmas Hit!
I got 3 of these for my daughter and two nephews for Christmas. It was a hit with everyone! My 25 year old sister wants one now. My one nephew has autism and his mother said this was the perfect gift for him. She told his therapist and she got one for her son with autism too. The kids can sit and play by themselves. The only thing I wish is that the drill was a little more powerful. The kids got bored at points because the gun is a little slow, but they always came back to it! ... show more

  • I would Recommend, Very pleased
very cute idea for multiple ages. Purchased for my 5 year old daughter even though it is a bit juvenile, she loved it. The drill is cute but what really sells it is the glowing of the colored screws. She is able to make the designs but more often then not she just likes to fill it up with patterns then turn off all the lights to see it glow up. The drill is slow and is a bit of a process to get all the screws out once they are in but I found just flip it upside down and use your hand to unscrew a row at a time. I would highly recommend this for kiddos of any age it is user friendly and keeps them busy knowing once filled up they get to turn off the lights ;) ... show more

  • NOTHING works!
The sound never worked to begin with and the drill stopped working after 5 minutes. What a joke of a product. Waiting for product support now..

  • GREAT TOY--GREAT COMPANY that stands by their products!
This is a great toy for the mechanically-minded child, especially . . . even ones who are much younger than the box indicates. Our 18-month old grandson knew exactly what to do with the drill. I highly recommend it! I want to endorse Educational Insights for their great customer service. The activity board that came with my order did not light up, but the paperwork inside the package said they have a 100% guarantee, so I called. Not only did I speak with a knowledgeable person quickly, but she also said they would send out an entirely new box. When I asked about mailing the defective one back, she told me to keep the extra parts for spares. It's such a breath of fresh air to have a company stand by their products and treat their customers so kindly and generously. Kudos to Educational Insights! ... show more
