    • More flimsy than I thought

I got this shelf to organize all of my hobby machines and it did the trick. I was able to put 4 ender 3 3D printers, a 400x450mm laser engraver, and a 3018 pro CNC router with my laptop on all the shelves and still have room for boxes of filament and router bits. My only complaint was how it was delivered. It took a good week to get it primarily and when I got it, the shelves were so torn up, I couldn't use half of it. But honestly, that's just par for the course when it comes to FedEx. I contacted customer service and they promptly sent out replacement parts to get this thing constructed. Only giving it 4 stars because the steel is pretty thin on the corner and shelf posts. Don't overload the shelves with heavy items, it's only particleboard. ... show more

    • BEST VALUE, EASY TO INSTALL & STURDY

I purchased this item to temporarily organize one side of my closet until I have it professionally customized. It was the best cost effective and practical solution to get all the stuff that was piled up on the floor on to neatly and organized shelves. This maximized the space so that I have even more room than I needed. It also helped to see the layout of the space once I finally design the new closet space. They were super easy to assemble by myself. Read the one sheet directions first! I recommend double checking that the uprights are facing properly with small hole towards the bottom. When I added the coupling and then placed the smaller upright at the top, I neglected to check the direction of the holes. Guess what, I had to remove two and the couplings and uprights weren't difficult to take apart. Also count the number of slots from the top to where the shelf will sit so you get the position the first time. This was another dumb mistake I made. I also suggest thinking about what you will be placing on the shelves since different items require various height between the shelves. When I added the bottom shelf, I placed my luggage and two laundry baskets in order to determine where the next shelf would be. Don't forget to make sure that double check all four horizontal supports are facing the correct way. Remember the wood shelf needs to sit on the ledge portion of the metal side pieces. One more recommendation is to use a rubber mallet and not a hammer. Unfortunately, I didn't have a rubber mallet and used a metal hammer which worked fine however it did chip the metal coating slightly and bent a few tiny areas. If you wanted to make it more upscale you could cover the shelves in a nice fabric or add a top facing in a color. Overall it worked out and I am super please with the results. Now there is less clutter in my closet which makes my life much better. Now I will search for a shelf to temporarily hold my 50 pairs of shoes. Hope this helped, Lee ... show more

    • Connecting brackets are needed

I ordered these previously, and connecting brackets were included with the order. However in this order they were missing. I recommend anyone ordering this, to request the connecting brackets for the vertical corner posts. These make assembly much easier. I was able to assemble the shelving without connecting brackets but it is a somewhat tricky procedure, -- at least the way I did it was awkward. Also when assembling, be sure that the holes have the narrow part downward which is the correct way to do it. Otherwise the shelves could possibly pop apart under strain. When the narrow part of the holes is oriented downward in the corner posts, the bolts on the horizontal beams can be pounded into the bolt holes tightly (using a rubber hammer). When completed these are very nice shelves! Must be used in a dry area only, not in a damp or humid garage -- composite wood particle board is used for the shelves. Not bad to assemble - please be aware that the 4 vertical rails each come in 2 pieces - makes assembly somewhat trickier and one of the shelves MUST be in that location, because the shelf brackets are what tie the two pieces of each rail together. The shelves are particleboard, which should be sufficient for most uses. Shelves could be replaced with plywood if you need something even sturdier. ... show more

shelf stand not very sturdy. was afraid fish tank wouldn’t work on it without additional bracing. Shelf boards pretty flimsy. I had some plants on it and the wood bowed. I can’t see it holding the weight it has listed. sad because I needed it. for aquariums but like I said, didn’t trust it. Finally my husband welded some cross bar to it and we used 3/4” plywood for the shelves. now I have a 75 gal aquarium on it. ... show more

    • Good product, poor packaging

This is a proven shelf design that has been available for decades. However these units are good only for dry storage in a dry environment. Assembly is easy with two adults working together with a rubber, rawhide or plastic mallet, but honestly I don't have much trouble assembling these units by myself with a plastic mallet. For extra stability place the bottom shelf as low to the floor as the design allows. The post couplers make assembly even easier and provide more options on shelf placement. However, the packaging is very flimsy- especially for the long journey from Taiwan. My hypothesis is as the packaging degrades in route, post couplers can and will fall out . I order three units for my church. Unfortunately the third unit to arrive was missing one post coupler. I contacted the seller and requested a post coupler. The seller stated they do not stock spare parts and gave me two options- return the entire unit for exchange or take a 10% refund. I took the refund which turned out to be 10% of all three units and not just the one unit. The post couplers are just tossed in to the packaging loose. This subjects them to damage or loss during shipment. Despite the inadequate packaging I would order again and from the same seller. ... show more
