Installation is easy, although the instruction text and wiring diagram is tiny. Use your phone camera to enlarge, as needed for easier reading. After installation the TEST mode setting (initial position of the TIMER dial) makes initial go/no-go testing simple, even IN FULL DAYLIGHT. Turn on the electric source to the sensor, set the SENSITIVITY dial to Maximum, then wave your hand in front of the sensor head lens. A red light inside the sensor should light up and the light you intend to control should turn on. If that works, you have a good sensor, but it still needs to be calibrated AT NIGHT. The circuitry in the sensor prevents day time activation, and cannot be deactivated. When it is dark, set the SENSITIVITY dail to (perhaps) some midrange level and the TIMER to (perhaps) 5 minutes. Walk in front of the sensor to activate the controllled light, which should then turn on for the 5 minutes of your timer setyting, and then go off. From this point, all you need to do is adjust the TIMER and the SENSITIVITY setting dials to your desired timing and sensitivity levels. ... show more

Purchased this to replace a bad detector on my front porch, the motion detector still worked but the daylight sensor did not, so the lights would operate day or night. Straight forward replacement, three wires, also had wire nuts with the unit. After a few minuets in test mode setting sensitivity and getting the angle right, works perfectly! Very happy with it so far, but to be fair I have only had it up and working for about a week now. ... show more

These motion sensors only last a few years out in the sun so it was time for a replacement. Although this one works, the sensitivity is not as good as it should be, even after tweaking.

After installing I now find out that it will not activate the light unless it is dark :( I wanted it for my garage so the light will turn on when there is motion.
